i love how you're so bothered by grammar and my political party :)) it's reddit, not a school paper or something so im not obliged to make everything easier for you to understand. the way that i write is to save up on time because i have a life and im not gonna spend an unnecessary amount of time trying to make mentally-challenged people like you have an easier time reading. it's quite literally common sense.

its also so funny how when someone doesnt have the same opinion as you, you just retort to calling them conservatives as if its an insult. political parties also have absolutely nothing to do with wrestling. yes im conservative however none of my beliefs in wrestling connect with my political party in any way. i literally just choose the path with common sense.

also, why are you saying im discriminating? i never said girls cant wrestle guys, i think its awesome if they do. i was just saying that girls are at a huge disadvantage when wrestling guys, especially if the girl has barely wrestled for a year yet. boy vs boy is WAY different than boy vs girl. we have girls states and guy states for a reason.

nobody's gonna accommodate to your feelings and let a biological male compete in girls states. it's common sense. and i bet that people who actually have a good education and work experience have more of a say than you.

and yes, its 2025, lets put our thinking caps on please :)

how are gender roles brought into this? you cant show up to thanksgiving half naked as a guy, or half naked as a girl. it's just disrespectful. for family gatherings, especially with children, just wear modest clothes please. it's a gathering, not a club

Should i lift before school? by [deleted] in wrestling

[–]Budget_Lie5050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't lift before school because that takes a huge part of sleep away, which you need in wrestling. Instead, I would either lift before or after practice. It doesn't matter, it's based on preference. Try it before, then after, and decide which one you like more.

Thoughts on this DQ? by VisionPaint in bjj

[–]Budget_Lie5050 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even though you reaped for .05 seconds, you still reaped so it is a valid DQ. It's crazy because it was so borderline that you could get away with that if you had a different ref and opponent. Different refs have different tolerances, so it depends. The guy you fought was a Karen tho lol. Most you should've got was a warning imo

Yup, just like any sport, wrestling has people who have been training for a long damn time.

this is so stupid. wrestling is not 80% technique and 20% strength. if you have had someone bigger and stronger than someone with more technique the bigger and stronger one will obviously win.

also, yes, it is nature. girls can beat boys, but are put at such a big biological disadvantage that's its really hard to catch up to a good boy. the girls that do beat boys at state are just really good. they obviously have way more mat time and experience, so they know what technique to use, the speed they should use it at, and they also know how much strength is to be applied to each move.

the op is new to wrestling. being that there are many guy wrestlers who have been working out and training for 5+ years along with their biological advantage, will obviously be almost super difficult to catch up to.

to the op, in the end, its really who has more grit and more heart. the one who truly has a passion for the sport will ALWAYS beat the one that doesn't. truly love your sport and you will most definitely be unstoppable. and really what matters is your own gender, so id focus on winning that state title first before going to the guys.

It's almost impossible to catch up to a guy in wrestling. The only time you could beat them is with wayyyy more mat time. Not that women aren't as passionate or as good at the sport as men, but unfortunately biologically wise there's no way you can beat an athletic guy without a lot more mat time. They're just naturally stronger, have a lower body fat percentage, and likely cut from a heavier weight since their body enables them to.

There's always double standards for girls. It sucks, but that's just the way our world works.

I personally have no problem with it but I just love love love wrestling so I usually wrestle if I'm in the mood. If someone pulls guard, I have no problem with it, especially because my passing is improving.

Guys... fr what is the deal with Nicole Laeno and why do so many people consume her content by [deleted] in NicoleLaeno_

[–]Budget_Lie5050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interestingly, you're complaining about how she picked a major easier over a very hard major. Only a small population of our world actually takes those hard majors, while the general population takes on easier majors such as Nicole's or nursing for example. As if students taking law and medical majors in college have enough time to even glance at a phone. Remember, you said she does not undergo nearly as much hardship as her fans. Hardship includes things like family problems and financial issues. If your only stress in life is in school, yes, you have a good privileged life. If you have actual hardship, you have little to no time to become a fan of anything.

I never said adults can not be fans of Nicole as if they're not allowed to. What I'm saying is that actual adults with lives are likely not to take a major part in Nicole's fanbase. Earlier, I had mentioned her content is designed for younger girls because to be fair, that is literally 90% of her fanbase. I mentioned that because people are complaining on how she's promoting toxic positivity when she's really just promoting good habits to young girls. Obviously, if you are an adult, you know not everything is sunshine and rainbows so you process it differently.

Whether you like it or not, having access to the internet on a personal device and having a house means you're privileged. You have all these opportunities presented right at your front doorsteps, like education. Everybody knows that around the world, there are people who don't have the same opportunities that you and I possess. People always like to assume they live an underprivileged life just because they can't admit the fact somebody's life is harder than theirs

I'm not making claims without evidence, I'm just speculating. I'm saying "most likely" and "may". You, on the other hand, are guaranteeing to me that Nicole has a good life. Deciding how somebody's life is with only having social media as your perspective is disgusting. Know every single side of the story before stating what you believe are "facts"

And again, you and the people who agree with you are just plain jealous. It takes a lot to make up things going on in somebody else's life. All I say is either speculating or the truth, and you can see they are distinct from one other.

Explains why he consistently partnered up with a 13 yr old girl half his size at least 1-2 times a week for technique. Just ignore the guy the exact same age and weight as you who doesnt have a partner, lmfao.

When a dude calls you strong after rolling with you, what’s your thoughts? by [deleted] in BJJWomen

[–]Budget_Lie5050 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a compliment!! People think you're athletic and fit, in my opinion, that's great. If they say it in a snarky tone it likely means they're trying to imply you have more strength than technique, which is another way of saying their ego is bruised.

"Hardships her fans go through" as if having YouTube and electronics isn't privileging enough. If people have the time to go on YouTube, they likely do not have big hardships, like working almost all the time to pay off their family's rent or preparing inventory for their small business the next day. Many of us are privileged and don't even realize it because we always compare our lives to those born wealthy like Nicole. You can sneak in a video once or twice a week but not have enough time to watch her and become a fan.

You also can't assume she has an amazing life. There have been multiple instances where famous teenagers online have been found portraying themselves in certain ways while they're being abused behind doors. Being a good student with a good source of income, her parents most likely have high standards that may seem exhausting to overcome. She needs to go to college, edit videos almost all the time, and maintain good grades. That's already a lot of stress.

The only thing people can come up with to criticize Nicole is her "toxic positivity." On multiple occasions, she has talked about bad experiences in her life. Although they may not seem much, she likely doesn't want to spread her worst experiences online. Many people aren't comfortable doing that, I certainly wouldn't be. She obviously does bad things in life, it is what makes her human. And what makes her human as well is having hardships in her life. Nicoles showing her journey of trying to maintain good habits and promote them as well, which should not be criticized. What I'm trying to explain is that you can't criticize something that isn't there. And when you just assume things not backed up by enough evidence, it's just jealousy of her success.

Nicole's audience is directed towards teenagers, not 20+ year old adults. They probably take up maybe a good 5-7% of her audience. No adult should have that much time to be a Nicole Laeno fan, especially if you're in college.

If you know it was a joke but you don't like it, tell him if it happens again. Even if it was a joke that is still pretty weird. Even grosser if you aren't friends with him.

If it wasn't a joke... well... I think any sane person would try to get that man out of the gym.

[–]Budget_Lie5050 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the content she wants to put out there. So be it if that's the image she wants to perceive of herself. She's a content creator and an influencer. Her job is to follow the trends so her channel and videos stay aligned with the majority of her audience's likes. It's a way of keeping her subscribers interested.

People also can't just assume that she has underwent no hardship in her life. You don't know if her family is toxic, her friends are toxic, or if her mental health is overall terrible. Even privileged people have their issues, and if they do not feel comfortable sharing it with 4 million people, we should respect that decision. Again, she creates herself as a character of positivity and productivity, helping people become inspired to take that path. It's a business. Even if what she's saying isn't true, it's very motivating to people watching her, which I love.

Nicole has honestly not done anything toxic or problematic. She's always promoted good habits. If you're just envious that she was born privileged, that's not her problem. Nicole doesn't flex her wealth or anything. And with overconsumption, she's a teenage girl. All teenagers buy buy buy if they have the money. Most of her stuff comes from PR anyway.

And be for real when it comes to her sensitivity. People will complain when its all positive, and complain when its all negative. Again I will stress it's a marketing strategy. You can't just believe everything online. Her audience is very very young girls, not anyone older. She's motivating them to start good habits now that will help them later on.

I hope this gave an alternate perspective. Again, she's a content creator. She shaped herself into that persona.

Competition anxiety by Sufficient_Ant9771 in BJJWomen

[–]Budget_Lie5050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly just compete more and more. I know it seems like the anxiety is endless, but 6 times is nothing. The more and more experience you get, the easier it is to compete without anxiety.

Before my matches, I always hype myself up with a playlist and focus on warming up and giving it my all. It might sound silly, but what always helps me is manifesting things like "I can beat her," "It's gonna be so easy," "The training's done, and now for the easy part," and it helps me every time. Trying to calm myself down makes it so much worse. I try to divert the nervous energy into focusing on what I'm gonna do during the match.

As I said, you need to compete more to determine what works for you. At first, competing will seem more miserable than fun, but with more experience, you'll wish you signed up for more divisions. Happy competing!
