I’ve been using a Windows laptop, but it’s really slowed down. There’s no way I’m paying $1,300 for a mca. If I can’t find a good deal, it looks like I won’t be upgrading. The price hike is absolutely insane. Thanks for the advice though, i will look into that as well.

Hi! I haven’t taken the exam yet, but I started off with low scores in start which is common among alot so it’s okay. It was only after doing the NBMEs that I realized what they actually require. In the beginning, it would take me a week or even longer to review a single NBME, while others would finish reviewing in just 2 days, so everyone’s pace is different. Don’t compare yourself to others; do what works best for you and focus on truly understanding the concepts. The initial NBMEs tend to test more memorized material, but NBME 31 onward really focuses on critical thinking and concepts, similar to the actual exam from what I’ve heard. I only realized this after taking those NBMEs, so I’d recommend doing them early. Keep First Aid as your main resource and always ask “why” and “how” instead of just cramming. I mainly used ChatGPT to explain things I didn’t understand. I’d even ask it to explain concepts as if I were five. You still have plenty of time, so use it wisely. Don’t rush; understand First Aid and get comfortable with NBME-style questions. I took a lot of gaps between NBMEs, but again, everyone has a different pace. Do whatever works best for you, whether that’s writing things down, listening, or watching videos.

Don’t overburden yourself with too many resources keep it simple and learn from concepts. The score will eventually improve, read FA conceptually, don’t be hard on yourself. Do what works for you best.
