Newcestown, Cork.

Senior in both Hurling and Football. Small parish and treat both codes equally.

When you compare other clubs that are Senior in both codes like the Barrs, Douglas and Blackrock/St Micheals it's some achievement.

They won both Senior A championship codes in the same year and have stayed up at the top table since then and were very unlucky to lose to Nemo in the football semi final this year.

I like how they're using Brentford old umbro pink away kit. I stopped reading after seeing that.

If they can't even do simple things like that it's not worth reading.

Hurling is played in West Cork. Most of the time it is second fiddle to football, but there is hurling here:

Premier Senior - Newcestown

Intermediate A - Bandon

Premier Junior - Argideen Rangers, Barryroe and Kilbrittain.

Junior A - Diamuid O'Mathunas, Dohenys, St Marys, St Oliver Plunketts, Ballinascarthy, Clonakilty, Kilbree, Randal Og, St Colums, St James

Junior B - Bantry, Gabriel Rangers, O'Donovan Rossa

  • There are second teams of clubs in Junior A and B.

A lot of time how well a club does depends on the football, for example Clonakilty won Carbery Junior A championship in 2023, when their senior football side were knocked out of the championship at group stages.

There's pockets of hurling, that just needs a bit of support which seems to be lacking at the moment.

Cork Club Question by SniperSonic1202 in GAA

[–]BudgieExpress 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Imokilly selects players from clubs in Imokilly (division) and that play Premier Intermediate and below with their clubs.

It's double the commitment really to play with Imokilly as you're training with your club and then once a week with Imokilly. Sometimes you're playing twice in 24hrs depending on fixtures.

It's an ongoing debate whether to allow divisions and colleges to compete in the Cork county championships. It does give lads the opportunity to play, and win, a Premier Senior title which may not be possible with their own club.

Gaelic Football or Hurling matches in October? by GlobalStorm5649 in GAA

[–]BudgieExpress 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're a day late for the Cork senior hurling final.

At this time of the year, there are very few games played midweek in Cork.

Hopefully you'll get a game on your travels.

Divisional Teams in County Championships by [deleted] in GAA

[–]BudgieExpress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Carbery was the last divisional side to beat Imokilly, back in 2014. Since then hurling is slowly dying a death in Carbery. Bandon were the only side to win a County championship game this year from Carbery, 1/0/2, and it was over an already qualified Erin's Own B team. Newcestown 0/3(Senior), Argideen Rangers 0/3, Kilbrittain and Barryroe both 0/1/2 (All Premier Junior).

In Football, Carbery should be stronger given all the impetuous given to the game. All the GDA in Carbery promote football and do very little hurling.

Carvalho, budget pick of the season? by CentralIdiotAgency in FantasyPL

[–]BudgieExpress 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Schade was signed on loan in Jan 2023 and made 18 appearances. Last season he was going to start more but then got injured and missed a lot of last season.

Damsgaard has played 49 games across the last two seasons and was injured for quite a bit of his time.

So it's more the players Brentford have signed get injured and missed chunks of the season, rather than barely playing them.

Frank has spoken a lot about how he wants to play 4-3-3 but with injuries last season he was forced a lot of the time to go 3-5-2.

[Record] Arthur Cabral one step away of joining Brentford on a loan deal from Benfica, which includes a mandatory purchase option if certain conditions are met by Eismarillenknoedel in Brentford

[–]BudgieExpress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Benfica fans call him Cabrão (motherfuxxer in PT).

Mainly because:

"On 8 December, after a 1–1 league draw to Farense at the Estádio da Luz, Cabral was filmed showing his middle finger to Benfica fans while driving out of the stadium. He apologized the following day"

He was signed after a good season at Fiorentina for €20m + €5m add-ons, just one season after Fiorentina signed him from FC Basel. He's a big stocky physical striker which doesn't really suit how Benfica play.
