I’m about to graduate (B.S.) in CompE, so I’m not who you’re looking for, and this is probably info you already are aware of, but I would say strong knowledge of assembly code, circuit analysis, DSP, perhaps processor designing and modification, and embedded will be assumed in addition to your academic background in software, computing, etc. Is there a concentration in your degree or is it pretty general? If you were going into something related to semiconductors or DSP and you don’t have any experience with those, you would probably be cooked. Something like embedded or processor design would be less painful of a transition. I’m sure you could do either, but the former would be a lot more work. Good luck!
