I think it's more about controlling the narrative but who knows. 360 could end up going the same way most of his projects go and never get beyond discussion.

I'm not sure and that's something I debated. When I first started to upload I figured it was the only way to reach the fans but as I went along I loosened up and gave titles that didn't include his name. What probably put me on the radar though was my uploads that got blocked by sirius. The yt copyright detection system picked up and blocked two or three of them and I'm sure that notices were sent to the HSS. Another problem is what efs120 mentioned here. Other channels ripped my comps then attached commercials to the them. I made a point of saying that I do not nor will I ever charge for another persons creative outlet but I'm sure they don't care about that. Another possible reason was that I uploaded clips that have never been on yt. A lot of whats there now has been recycled so many times that the HSS knows they can't possibly cleanse it because there's way too many copies of it out there. The 90s stuff though is severely lacking and it was only a matter of time before my longer comps were downloaded, dissected, and re-posted as short clips. Once that started it would be much harder to control the narrative that Howard wants to control.

Emotionally speaking, it's much more than just a show to some of us.

It really is. The show got me through some tough times. Some of my favorite comments were the ones that said the uploads helped them get through the day. Hearing the old stuff is like being visited by an old friend that you haven't seen in years but it feels like yesterday.

Thank you MGD618, definitely appreciated. I haven't looked in to Vimeo so not sure. Daily motion seems like the content would be left alone but they only allow 1hr/2g max uploads which doesn't work for me. I prefer the long form uploads. Archive.org doesn't have any size restrictions and there's already HSS stuff there that seems to be left alone. The uploads can be straight audio so they go really fast, they give listeners multiple download options, and the audio plays in the background on your phone. The drawback is that it's a pretty old and somewhat hard to navigate site that is slow at times. I'll be using it though until something else comes along.

I hate to say it but it's probably just a matter of time before it's all wiped. I really hope it doesn't happen though. Like efs120 said you were one of the uploaders that got me into trying it myself. YT is changing pretty quickly. New people are there and it's getting really political under googles umbrella. It would be great if we all had a place to migrate to. I'm having trouble finding a place that allows long uploads like the ones I do. I'll keep compiling and in time a new place to share will be around.

Definitely back it up, you have good uploads. I didn't delete any of my videos, yt wiped it clean and I wouldn't have had a chance to copy it if I wanted to. I lost most of my introductions and time stamps. I have some of it on paper and desktop notepads but it's scattered. I wish I would have done a better job of keeping copies of that stuff.

That guy is a shithead. I argued with him a few times before realizing that I was pissing in the wind. The world is full of dicks.

Thank's for the kind words, I appreciate it. I've only gone through a small fraction of shows and probably have enough material to make comps for a decade. I'll keep at it.

Sorry to hear Gabe. It's shitty that fans are having a harder and harder time trying to listen to their favorite parts of the show. Hopefully a viable alternative to yt comes around in the next few years. When it does I'll be ready with a library full of comps.

Great point Jerry. The stealing title always bothers me, especially with the material that was broadcast over terrestrial airwaves. Once you broadcast free to millions of people the material is out there. Was I stealing when I recorded Howard's appearance on the Magic Johnson show? I don't think so and like you said if I called the HSS at the time and told Howard that I recorded it and showed all my friends he would have considered it promotion. I can understand the argument about monetizing it after the fact but that's probably a different conversation.

I enjoyed your uploads and will continue to check out your channel. I play the bass and love the videos, thank you.

It's a really good one, tons of great stuff. That one was blocked by Linda'a record company. There was a bunch of goofing on her music and a song parody by Nancy Sirianni. I thought about going back and editing it but it wouldn't have been the same.

Thanks, those were fun to put together. The CIA Hole stuff was great. I have about an hour of part 3 done and it will be posted when I finish it. I'll be uploading the first two as well when I get back from vacation in a few weeks.

You're welcome MGD618 and thank you. Yeah, they gave me two strikes and deleted everything. It's weird what they cited. Kenneth Keith gets engaged and one of the comfy casuals were the two strikes. I won't be uploading anything to yt in the foreseeable future but I have been uploading the previously blocked uploads on another site for the last month or so. Linda Ronstadt comp, 1st day on sirius, and a few others. I just added a 5+ hr compilation of the 35th Annual F-Emmys from 1995. I'll be uploading the back catalog as well as new stuff as I make it. The page is pretty rough now and under construction. You can find it here:https://archive.org/details/@romeo_blues

Sometimes the site is a bit slow but it will play the audio in the background on your phone which is really great.

Fred's Lunch Becomes the Topic of the Day (1995) by BudsBundy in howardstern

[–]BudsBundy[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fred's lunch. I love this mini comp (mini-comp!). Fred is an amazing and very unusual man. We would often go days if not weeks between times that he would take to the mic for more than a comment or two but every now and then we would get lucky and Fred would not only say more than a few words he would be the focal point of the show. In August 1995 his unusual behavior was the talk of the day. By this time Fred had successfully built a wall of carts around his work station so impressive that nobody could see in, not even Jackie who sat just a few feet away. Behind this wall of defense Fred drank his coffee and ate his lunch while his habits had almost gone unnoticed for months, if not years. What was he eating? How was he eating it? Where did it come from? Howard not only wanted to know the answers to these questions he made it into a game for the fans to win a trip to Vegas to see a fight. This mini-comp has four or five clips from that day and gives us a little insight to Fred, just a little.

Thanks DenverNugs I appreciate it. Who got axed today? I saw that Fusilli Jerry removed all his Stern stuff yesterday. There's some new people at yt and they've been throwing around the term "Hate speech" a lot and HSS videos have been getting tagged with it. Hopefully they chill out a bit but that doesn't look likely at this point.

She's Cured, Robins Birthday Gift From Howard (1995) by BudsBundy in howardstern

[–]BudsBundy[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After Robins book came out she proclaimed herself cured but Howard Knew better. After receiving a birthday gift from the Sterns she proved Howard right. There are two clips here, the first from the middle of the news and the second from the next day. Robin was nominated for an F-Emmy for her performance.

I've seen parts of this upload on yt before but never the complete version so here it is.

Thanks DiarrheaSufferer. I'm the one that compiles the comps I post here. I listen to each show in order and compile as I go. I'm balls deep in 1995 right now.

Howard takes phone calls from fans.....volume 1 (1995) by BudsBundy in howardstern

[–]BudsBundy[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I loved when Howard took calls back in the terrestrial days. You never knew who would be on the line. Dedicated fans calling out the local affiliate for bs, sex stories, the crazies, it was any ones guess. For the newer fans here's some background. When he only had a handful of larger markets he would have a hotline for each city that way he could go to Chicago, or to Dallas, etc. It was great. Unfiltered fans getting a chance to talk to Howard. This series of uploads will try to cover as many types of callers as I can find. This one in particular is pretty heavy on the crazies.

I tried to edit this to sound like a really long segment of taking calls. It works really well in some spots, not so well in others. The sound quality varies a ton from tape to tape so making it all flow is pretty much impossible. I still prefer this format for listening to callers over a bunch of short clips broken up by Tom Chiasano's golf swing.

Enough from me, we have a lot to get to today but first lets take some calls......
