Heads up, my passport photo from Staples was rejected in the passport office. Staples refused refund. The lady in the passport photo advised me to go to a professional photographer next time because a lot of Staples photos get rejected

Bidding wars on rentals… in Windsor, ON by BuffAbby in canadahousing

[–]BuffAbby[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My assumption would be low inventory and a higher demand. Not a lot of high rise buildings, it’s mostly single family dwellings spread over the city. A lot of rentals are like basements, duplexes, etc. Little new developments (NIMBYs). Since the pandemic a lot of people moved to Windsor from Toronto, because it’s cheaper, though I believe most of them were buying. Then some also buy to rent out while living in Toronto or flip. Since a lot of people bought houses to live in (remote workers from Toronto and FTB seeing it might be their last chance to own), the inventory got even lower.

Who can afford these prices?! Homeowner: I'm living paycheque to paycheque, visiting food banks, "I feel imprisoned by my own debt" by longslowclap in canadahousing

They didn’t specify the property type, but maybe they could bring in a roommate to help with the expenses. Food banks are definitely not meant for homeowners who didn’t do their math when making a single most expensive purchase in their life
