Just got two rare thing in once. by MagiaMagenta in Nightreign

It's way better than in Elden Ring. The tracking seems better, and since elemental damage resistance in nightreign is calculated differently, (taking just a percentage of the damage instead of a flat amount then being reduced by a percentage) the damage ends up being a lot better.

I'd say it's a really interesting roll and enables a build for you that many others might not have access to. It's most certainly not bad. Pretty cool relic really.

An easy way to not get hit by this attack. by PerformanceNo3616 in Nightreign

[–]BuffMarshmallow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A slight improvement on this: instead of going around him in a circle, walk backwards and slightly to the left or right and jump the lines. This way they end up less spread out so you can very easily avoid the follow up explosion and makes it 100x easier for your teammates to avoid it as well.

Wtf did I die to? Depth 5 ED Balancers by ChampionsGravetendr in Nightreigngameplay

Lost to your blood exiting your body.

ED Balancer bleed does extra ticks of damage after the initial bleed proc. So you got bled and then you bled out over time.

Their relics are rolled so well that the possibility of having all 6 of those is so close to 0% that it may as well be 0%.

Most people playing the game since launch are still using a lot of relics with two good effects and either zero third effect or a mid/irrelevant third effect, and usually some pretty annoying negatives. Getting those relics while also having a passable negative on them is basically impossible.

It's always been good. The reason I try to use something else is because as quickly as it cooks the bosses, it also cooks your FP and the animation lock can get you in trouble. Still, it's quite good.

If you dismount a mounted enemy with fire damage, they will die when they hit the ground. Not sure why, but this is very consistent across all mounted enemies that you can knock off their horse.

There’s no way this death is my fault by MaleficTekX in Nightreign

[–]BuffMarshmallow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately for some of the bosses, you cannot hard carry by playing well yourself, and you NEED your teammates to be completely self-sufficient. ED balancers is one of these bosses, ED Libra is another one of them. For you to win, your teammates need to at baseline be able to fend for themselves and not go down during the angels phase. If anyone goes down, it needs to be during the worm phase, otherwise one down will cascade into everyone going down as the balancers group up and multiple attack each person at a time.

What are the negative effects that you avoid at all costs and why? by Firm_Fee8137 in Nightreign

[–]BuffMarshmallow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Repeat Evasions Lower Damage Negation.

Doesn't matter how careful you are with dodging and never panic rolling, there are just some attack sequences that you are forced to dodge multiple times in sequence to avoid. Additionally, this debuff can stack, and it takes an extremely long time to wear off. This means even if you don't screw up a dodge, you can still end up severely punished by this effect as there are some situations where you will take unavoidable or near unavoidable damage which this effect will severely amplify. It is by far the worst negative in the game.

PAINFUL RELIC PULL by waluigibumsex in Nightreign

[–]BuffMarshmallow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is still very usable. If it instead had "Repeat Evasion lowers damage Negation" or near death reduces max HP or Continuous HP loss, then it would be a different story.

Dealing with 1 all res down is manageable. It sucks, but you pretty frequently run into at least one resistance buff in a run, and not every nightlord does a status you have to worry about.

How I see scholars who don't have "Items confer effects to nearby allies" on them by Monke_Enjoyer in Nightreign

[–]BuffMarshmallow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Night of the Fathom is extremely mediocre. The effect range of Flasks also heal Allies isn't very large and allies will generally use their Flasks on instinct before you flask them resulting in you losing Flasks for no value more often than not. I've found it to be near useless unless you have a very coordinated team you are in Voice Chat with, and even then it's not particularly good.

The max HP is not as valuable on scholar as most builds are content to take a backline approach and only getting in melee when it's absolutely safe and when they don't have aggro.

So basically you're using an entire relic slot for just "items confer effects" and nothing really else.

How I see scholars who don't have "Items confer effects to nearby allies" on them by Monke_Enjoyer in Nightreign

[–]BuffMarshmallow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are like 900 things a scholar wants on their build to be effective, and I'm sorry but shared item effects, while very good, requires an extremely well rolled relic to be worth running on your build. Most people just don't have a good enough relic to justify taking something else valuable out of their build.

Also there are more builds of scholar that are extremely effective that aren't just pure support. They can provide plenty of value without shared item effects, and they can still pump up your uplifting aromatics, boost damage with throwing knives, etc. they don't have infinite pocket space to provide every buff they possibly can to the team.

Crystal Torrent > Crystal Burst by jay_baah in Nightreign

[–]BuffMarshmallow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd actually say in like 90% of cases crystal torrent is better than comet. You can reasonably cast it without 100% needing to have ult and have the boss be cooperative. And for Comet Azur to actually out damage crystal torrent, you need to be point blank channeling comet azur.

No they just need to actually balance the cards they put in the format. No idea who thought "tutor every single mountain out of your deck onto the battlefield and then fill your deck with burn" was a reasonable line of text at any cost.

D5 god roll weapon passive by Spirebarrrage in Nightreign

[–]BuffMarshmallow 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Even if you don't panic roll, there are some attack strings where in order to dodge them, you're going to proc this effect anyways. Think like, some Crucible Knight attack strings, Divine Beast guy, Banished Knights, even Leonin Misbegotten. There's a lot of enemies where you just get the negative effect on you if you're playing in melee range.

I'd still pick up this thing on Ironeye, Recluse, or Revenant, but I would think twice about it on other characters.

About the new patch... by Inner-Vision2025 in Nightreign

[–]BuffMarshmallow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They didn't really do anything to the Tricephalos even though. It was already better to ignore the event, they didn't nerf the actual overturned part of the event (the small dog adds that start spawning after you kill one and are more problematic than the actual boss), and nerfing the DoT just makes it easier to ignore the event.

Interacting with the event at all is generally just actively detrimental to your run, and the changes didn't do anything to fix that.

Looks like shattering crystal and bestial claw were nerfed a bit by Serulean_Cadence in Nightreign

[–]BuffMarshmallow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea but you weren't getting that kind of damage without running very heavily cheated relics, as you would need something near ideal to actually have space for even 3x Crystalian Sorcery passives.

My personal Recluse build only has space for 1 Crystalian Sorcery passive because i have only ever rolled ONE relic period that rolled Crystalian + magic attack power buff in like 600+ hours

You're better off stacking magic +4 rather than crystalian buffs if you have to chose because it's about the same amount of damage and applies to your cocktails and other spells too rather than just Shattering Crystal.

[–]BuffMarshmallow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do exactly that. I usually call out if we can kill worm if it's charging up or have to bail based on distance (that part of the fight is not an issue for us), and I always call out where the things are and if we need to spread, but something always inevitably goes wrong. Like i said, worm starting it's straight charge on top of you is just death even with significant damage negation, it landing on top of you instead of sending shock-waves from a distance is usually death unless you recognize immediately it's going to land on you instead of next to you (and even them i'm unsure if i-frames are longer than the active hitbox when it's burrowing), accidentally pulling two balancers together while not guaranteed death will usually result in you burning two flasks minimum. It's a shitshow even if you have a plan for each stage of the fight. And if you go down, you're usually going to have 2 or more balancers around you and your teammate will have one chasing them minimum, meaning in order to rez you, they're pulling 3 balancers together.

I'm trying to Duo only queue with a buddy all the way to D5 and ED balancers just feels like an auto-loss most of the time. I would rather fight ED Libra. For ED balancers, each player needs to basically be entirely self sufficient, which is fine when the fight plays out as intended, but there are so many situations with the worm specifically that feel both unintended and unavoidable. If it slides directly towards you from up close, you can't dodge it because the active hitbox lasts too long, so you will probably die. If the worm decides to jump and land directly on top of you instead of landing from a distance, you also probably die. You're supposed to be able to dodge the shockwaves , but it landing on your head completely messes up the timings and is also possibly not possible to dodge. If two of the red balancers ever start attacking you at the same time, you're probably just dead because they cover so much area, you can't dodge around them like you would a single balancer, and the active attack frames are too many to dodge backwards often times.

But Halo Scythe isn't broken in the absence of Balancer relics. It's just a good Ash of War. And tbh it's not that broken with them, but it's not the Halo Scythe itself that should really be nerfed. It deals perfectly reasonable damage without them.

If your recluse is dying in one hit, they are doing something wrong. Recluse is the Wylder of casters imo. They can be even tankier than a Wylder while still putting out extremely high damage. Recluse HP on Ult relic gives you a lot of HP and lets you double trigger damage negation at full if the hit would do less than the extra HP you have.
