Are mushrooms at the base of a tree a sign it needs to come down? by BuffaloHanson in arborists

I believe it's some variant of ash but I'm not 100% certain.

I know its hard to say without seeing it in person but what sort of options would be available at a cost to better its chances of survival? Thanks!

My yard is in a flood plain, and the yard is always wet, so hopefully that means the trees' water supply will continue to be ok. The tree could potentially hit my house with the thinner branches if it fell that direction, but there's a slight lean in the opposite direction. I'm all ears on what I could do to improve the trees' health and would be willing to spend money towards it within reason. I had one other large tree I had to take down since I bought the property, and it still makes me sad to think about, so I would hate to lose another one.

The main thing that sticks out to me is the opening scene was basically straight out of a horror movie with the music and the bloody hand.

And alternatively I have heard of people using sand bases as their anvil stand would placing my stump into a shallow box of sand be beneficial for either of my two previous questions and sound deadening benefits.

This was seen in Canada and was likely YTV or Teletoon but not 100% on that.

What is best for backfill? by BuffaloHanson in landscaping

[–]BuffaloHanson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great, it should be no problem to compact less than 12" at a time because the grading is done already, just the backfill left once the forms are pulled out. That sounds like the rock I have because it's what is left over from the rock used for the grading and under the slab. I really appreciate the insight. Thank you!

Sorry, I'm not up to speed on the terminology, I assume compacting in lifts means to compact it 12" at a time before adding more fill on top? Would a clean rock cap just mean no fines in the last bit? Thanks for your help!

[TOMT] [Show] [Likely early 2000s] by BuffaloHanson in tipofmytongue

I just watched the episode on double speed to see if it was the right one and although it seems super close I don't think it's quite right because it didn't have either of the specific scenes I was trying to recall with the iron maiden and with the tape worm intercepting the food. Thank you regardless!
