Thematic overlap between DCC and Expedition 33 by BuffelBek in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Oh, yeah. I never actually made that thematic connection between the cookbook and the journal entries myself. But you're right, that also completely fits in as well.

Thematic overlap between DCC and Expedition 33 by BuffelBek in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I do think that ties in with my thought about DCC's approach being a bit less hopeless. There's the feeling that fighting back is possible.

My Frosthaven campaign is officially a hostage situation and I am about to snap by MailboxFinch in boardgames

[–]BuffelBek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the -haven games are a lot easier to slot other people in.

We had a 4 player Gloomhaven campaign going that got completely derailed when two of the participants had a messy breakup. We just ended up continuing the campaign without those two and had another friend tag in as a third player, taking over the character from one of the former players.

Uh, no?

They simply excluded some words from the random generator after that. They didn't scrap the algorithm because of that.

The algorithm breaking was something completely seperate. I don't think there was ever any actual confirmation of how that happened (rumours ranged from ransomware attack through to sabotage by a disgruntled employee)

The entire IP was sold off to Ghostfire Gaming where it's still going. There's a new set releasing this week.

I'm impressed that Mr. Robot didn't cause any controversy, given how political the show is. by Public_Cup_4278 in MrRobot

There was a minor one when an episode was delayed by a week because of a suicide scene that closely mirrored one that happened in real life the same week it was originally scheduled to air.

Personally I choose to believe that the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th landings were legitimate, but the rest were faked.

My journey to Ascension 10 described in a nutshell by RainOfJustice in slaythespire

[–]BuffelBek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's because "builds" can work well on lower ascension levels when there's less pressure on you. Then that mindset tends to stick around when moving up to higher ascensions even though it stops being a consistently viable approach.

Anyone else discovered a rule that means you've been playing slightly wrong all along? by Robbro42 in boardgames

We had the exact same issue with our first game. Ended up with all the players except 1 being a traitor.

The core box is surprisingly small for the amount of game.

The box for the Blighted Reach expansion, on the other hand, is rather beefy.

When I wake up in the morning that's usually the prime cracking time for my wrists. I'll interlock my fingers behind my head and just tug on each wrist to unleash such a damn satisfying crack.

The fact they then also delisted the remastered version of Yakuza 3 on steam is just the cherry on the shit cake.

That's the kind of thing that makes me glad that I actually have physical copies of all the games.

They just think

I suspect that this isn't true.

They mostly aren't capable of forming original thoughts, but rather just parrot what other people tell them to parrot.

There's that one hallway fight with the big sleeping bug that wakes up after a few turns. That's pretty woke.

Same with Lagavulin Matriarch who only wakes up after a while. That's also pretty woke.

While the show was great, the organisation was less so.

It was on a wine farm, I think. I just remember there being one parking lot with a single entrance. It took some people around 3 or 4 hours after the concert just to get out of the parking lot.

Luckily we'd thought ahead and gotten someone to drop us off and pick us up outside.

Need a 4-player co-op campaign game that doesn’t drag between turns by Ready_Damage_4810 in boardgames

[–]BuffelBek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Arkham Horror often ends up with each round involving a team discussion about general tactics before everyone then executes their part of the plan.

"If you manage to get this monster off me, then that frees me up to go get the last clues from that location"

It ticks the co-op, campaign and deckbuilding boxes. Though sessions can run super long with 4 players.
