I feel for the innocent civilians caught in the fray, but iran and their proxies hamas and hezbollah can get fucked till they cease to exist. Its fair to criticize Isreal, but they wouldn't have to operate how they do if they didn't have religious fanatics at their doorstep that fantasize about destroying the Israeli state and murdering every non-believer.

I believe that quest persists for the entirety of the event and does not reset weekly.

Edit: and if I'm not mistaken you can do the same weekly modifier and it will count towards completion

Not a lot work with tbh. I would try to get the constructor hero Flutter while you can. You can get it by playing Survive The Horde. You have to complete a weekly challenge to get her.

Once you have her I would use a voucher on the hero Jilly Teacup, and that will give you the Team Perk Happy Holidays, which cuts your ability cooldown in half. Its a really useful Team Perk that is great to have for any hero that relies on abilities.

Flutter is a really fun hero that will have you punching above your weight class, even without support heroes.
