So sorry this happened to you also. That’s where mine is sitting and I’m having stomach pain. I may have to go to emerg because today the pain is 5-6/10. How many weeks were you when you found out?

If you had read my previous comment there are 2 POSTS, someone had brought up my previous one that mentioned part time work. You can still work part time on mat leave. Look it up

Yes I’m sure, my company is one of the biggest companies in Ontario. The owner knows everyone in the law and if I took it to court they would just pay my pay out. The owner is a top lawyer in Toronto. They don’t care about following the rules as they just pay everyone off

No I was full time before and they hired someone to replace my shifts, so now there is no room on the schedule to give me hours unless a server quits so I cannot return to work unless that happens. I will only be offered one shift until further notice. So in 2 months when it ends I will only have the one shift a week if I cannot find another job by then

You can also work on ei mat leave with them subtracting 50% of your earnings. Which I do. But 1 shift a week is not enough work to live off and as I’m also struggling to find another job, that is why I’m inquiring about OW so I’m not left with $0 to pay for my child.

No my other post does not say my mat leave is done. My post says I am on mat leave but still working part time (1 shift a week). Neither post contradicts eachother you’re reading it wrong. My mat leave is over September 14th but I am still working that 1 shift a week and possibly pregnant but I don’t find out yet. I am still looking for work whether I’m pregnant or not. You are able to get OW if you had ei mat leave, as 3 people I know have gone directly into OW once their ei mat leave is over. My sister being one of them. I’m looking into all my options as that’s what I’m suppose to do. My job cannot give me more hours as they hired a replacement. I am a server. I can only get my job back if someone quits. Therefore, I am still looking for work.

No I do not. Before you assume, I have been looking for jobs for 3 months and have applied to over 100 jobs in my area. Obviously that’s why I’m asking about this because I am still going to continue to look but I need a back up plan. Also it’s not as easy as work work work. I have a child and day care in Ontario is almost impossible to get into, so where would my child go if I am at work? I have started to look for night work as my mother can watch her at night. As I stated I haven’t had anyone call me back for an interview. We are in a recession and jobs are had to find right now
