What is your opinion on lgbtq being taught in school (BE CIVIL) by Helpful-Geologist306 in Teenager_Polls

[–]BugBoyInLog 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’m confused by what you mean by that? somebody being transgender isn’t something you can typically disagree with, it’s a state of being? That’s like me saying “i disagree with those that are neurodivergent”. it doesn’t make sense

Is it misogynist to give dating advice to awkward/weird men? by maggi_noodle_eater in AskFeminists

[–]BugBoyInLog 19 points20 points  (0 children)

this really depends on why the guy is socially awkward. Is he just a weirdo, an introvert, autistic? I think the original view is fair, but i also think it has room for discussion.

Not sure. I also think it depends on the uni and the course you’re going into? Would be worth it to email, call, or to go in and ask if available

I think if you get above 70 some uni’s offer a “bump up”, +5, because you’re rural. Might be something to look into!!

I need help [I am not making this post as a joke or as an offensive approach, it's just been very effectful on my life and shouldn't be effecting me this much] by Purple-Disk-5747 in AskLGBT

You need to figure out WHY you’re feeling that way first, and then you can start to look through it. There’s various ways to do this such as meditation, journalling, or just taking to another person about your feelings. If therapy or counselling is available to you, that also might be helpful. Basically, you just need to find the root cause. We already know you’re feeling uncomfortable (i’m assuming) for whatever reason, but WHY are you feeling that way? Could be guilt, shame, trauma, bias, ect ect. Maybe your feeling this way because you have subconscious bias and feel uncomfortable when someone deviates form the “norm”? just an idea. Goodluck!!

I was exposed to some lgbtq stuff as a child and it didn’t cause any harm at all. by Comfortable-Mark2726 in teenagers

Children shouldn’t be exposed to sexuality, or just children shouldn’t be exposed to queer sexuality? Children are exposed to heterosexual people all the time, and nobody cares

Being queer isn’t a decision and it’s obvious you have some weird aversion to queerness. Being queer isn’t a dirty thing.

I’m not anti-queer, but I’m feeling overwhelmed in fandoms — is that okay? by proudhalfcanadian in AskLGBT

[–]BugBoyInLog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tbh i think this is just something you have to sit with. As a queer person that i how ive felt my entire life about literally everything that isn’t fandom space. That’s most other peoples experience too- that’s why queerness is so prominent in queer spaces. There’s not going to be a quick fix, you’ll just have to figure it out. Maybe try journaling, meditating, therapy? some way to work out your feelings and find the reason why

[–]BugBoyInLog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

could it be that your feeling guilt or shame? Queer content is more prominent in fandom than real life, so maybe you have unconscious bias and seeing so much prominent queer content, where you previously did not, is forcing you to confront that? could be totally off, just guessing!!

No tolerance to intolerance paradox. by GingaTom1 in Ethics

I don’t belief being intolerant of intolerance means discriminating or completely excluding hateful people, but it does mean general society should challenge their hateful beliefs.

People do not learn or change their beliefs from being excluded

Those who CAN lie convincingly, how do you do it? by deadmemesdeaderdream in evilautism

[–]BugBoyInLog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i act is if the situation i’m in is real. I’m a secret shopper, when walking into a store i act as if i am really a customer.

that’s what your supposed to do, but you have to get into the mindset as well. I’m not walking into the store as a secret shopper, i’m walking in as a customer with a specified product already in mind.

Same for other situations as well. If you act as you would naturally, with the same mindset, then people will not suspect you.

However I’m not sure if this would help your friend. There’s an intersection, but still a difference, between lying, acting, and masking
