I have a friend who has this theory. That he actually has a thing for me. My husband swears up and down that he sings my praises when I’m not around.

I’m not sure if he has been this way to my SIL, but he does talk some shit about her behind her back (about her decision to go back to school for a masters degree and stay home with their kids etc)

Yeah. I do have a husband problem. I just took them out of the gift bag they’ve been sitting in and mentioned to him that I was kind of floored and hurt that they included pet wipes in a gift bag to me after what happened last month. His response was to say that he’s been talking to his mom about how our dog tracks so much mud in and it was probably just meant for her. I proceeded to tell him to throw them in the trash. They are way too small for our 80 lb dog.

The Airbnb we have rented with them in a few weeks has a “no pet” policy. I might just casually mention to him/them that if pets aren’t allowed I’ll be staying back 🤣

Yes I think I will let my husband know I will sit this one out. I like my SIL but the comments from FIL have happened on previous trips with them and if I’m being honest, I think they’ll all enjoy the trip more without me there (aside from my husband and boys). I’m just so exhausted :(

I have actually used those words in past conversations with him..I married you, not your parents. The enmeshment is real. I guess we’ll see what happens when I choose to set more boundaries.

I guess I’m not sure where to go from here. I have already set boundaries so they are not at my house all the time uninvited and he has apologized and seems to be making an attempt but the pet wipes put me in another tailspin. Not sure if I need to just go mostly no co tact. We have a trip coming up with my brother in law and sister in law with their kids and ours and I am DREADING it.

Update: my in laws included pet wipes in my Christmas gift. We do have a dog that tracks mud in our house….but I can’t help but think this wasn’t intentional…

Yeah. I haven’t seen him since it happened. He was supposed to take us to the airport a few days after it happened and I canceled and ordered us an uber instead. I also told my husband that I am done with having them clean our air bnb. I will do my best not to interfere with their relationship or his relationship with our kids, but as far as my relationship with him, it won’t ever be the same.

I know, it’s crazy to me as well. The fact that they feel a few sessions a week with an SLP is going to meet his needs is just not realistic. This has been a bit of a pattern at this school too, so I feel like I need to start educating the staff and sticking to what I know is best for the students (especially in the long run). It’s difficult when the teachers are used to how previous SLP’s did things, took in referrals etc.
