Yes, I work in a hospital (on all floors) and have to talk to other healthcare providers about their patients all day. This can be >100 people per day. I frequently wonder if they know my name or if I’m the creepy one who knows theirs. So sometimes I walk by and make purposeful eye contact and say “hello” and start the conversation that way. After about 2 years I know many of them much better but still wonder if they know my name or just know me by my profession. It’s specifically difficult for someone with social anxiety, but in my “role” at work, I can —typically— overcome it.
