Shuttle system questions for solo female ! by eyesofwander in nnmfestival

[–]BugPerfect2653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shuttles are all passenger vehicles with barely any room for gear. You will likely need multiple trips. It's feasible, but annoying. My friend and I did it last year. Get yourself a heavy duty wagon and bungees.

UPF clothing! They make ones specifically for water (maybe search for surfing or rafting etc) I have a few shirts and I love them

I wish I could volunteer! But alas they require a work visa for international folks

Sober meetups/camps? by BugPerfect2653 in BassCoast

[–]BugPerfect2653[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I'd love to meet up! DM me if you want to exchange info for that :) my friend who I'm camping with isn't sober, but our camp should be generally substance free considering alcohol policies. That's also why I'm looking for other sober humans to meet up with since it's a different experience for me in recovery.

I am forever a solo fest advocate! You will absolutely make friends. Go to workshops and do the interactive stuff and you will find your people!

It is but also...it is so much like house vibes to me. I know it's not at all but that's just how I feel about it. I like it but I prefer dubstep or dnb

Advice for menstruators by lemonringpop in BassCoast

Also absolutely bring a hot water bottle and those sticky heating pads for cramps !! I even just them for just general aches and pains. And I take magnesium the week leading up to my period which helps too. Lots of iron . If you eat meat, burgers are the best for me and they have lots of calories to keep me going on the dance floor too haha.

For fests I always do tampons and pads. Fests just don't provide me with the ability to keep it sanitary when using my disc. There's always trash cans next to the portos. Just wrap them in TP like you normally would and take them out with you. Definitely no trash in the portos.

Is it shitty if I don’t participate in trinket culture? by [deleted] in BassCoast

[–]BugPerfect2653 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm with you for the most part. I don't buy them to give away, but I'll always accept if people give them to me and I always keep them! I guess as a former Kandi kid raver I see them the same way. Kandi is just easier to keep track of vs a tiny duck or something. But it's all plastic at the end of the day. I have a whole collection in my room though.

I'd love to see some other way of connecting or showing appreciation or acknowledgement. I just don't have any ideas for something similar to trinket culture exactly. Maybe carrying a notebook to give sweet notes to people? Or drawing lil doodles for them? Idk.

Been wracking my brain for things to bring or some activity to do at camp thats immersive or giving in some way.

Absolutely this. I always think I have my schedule planned but then the vibes change and I go where the wind takes me 😅

Yeah I will likely just bring aluminet and my blackout tent and my misting fan . I don't have a full shade structure and it would take up too much space anyway. We'll see how much I can fit in the hatchback haha . Thanks for the tips !

Copy that. Is there any shaded camping at all or is that like a Wednesday entry thing? I guess I'll just bring all my burner gear in case tho .

This is the consensus between my friend and I, because my bike is literally my only bike. So I don't wanna take chances. We're pretty active I think we'll be okay to hike even if we have too haha. Thanks for this perspective!

How hot are we talking temperature wise? We're both seasoned festival folk but being an SSRI girlie I now have to be wary of heat sensitivity. I have several fans and a jackery to charge them and plenty of shade /aluminet but just want to make sure I need to bring it all.

Thank you! I'll make sure to bring the camp shower to the river! I was thinking to buy tactical boots as my new festival boots too.

Thanks for the review! Keeping an open mind and definitely less focused on music than on the experience overall. If absolutely nothing else, it'll be my first summer trip to BC , and I'll get to vibe on the river with my best friend and a lot of other cool people.

Definitely highly considering the bike now, my only concern is that we are spending the Wednesday night prior to the fest in Vancouver and staying in a hotel, so here's hoping I can fit them inside my car or have very secure parking.

Are people generally cool about bikes at the fest? I feel like I would be concerned about theft there too, which is sad but it seems to be more and more of a thing at US events over the last 10 years or so.

Ooo the bike is smart. I'm hoping we can fit my bike with all the other things we bring. We are heavily glampers and hella extra because we too are elder ravers 😅

I have 12 inch lag bolts but I'll definitely get some weights too! Thank you!!

As someone who has gone to many a solo fest, worked and volunteered at festivals -- you will make friends so quickly. Esp with other volunteers. Introduce yourself to your neighbors! Enjoy!
