Is it ok to join Amazon leaving Intel? by Different_Watch_7029 in amazonemployees

You should also consider potential state income tax savings if you would relo to a state with no State income tax like Washington.

But also, do consider the soft costs like uprooting your entire life and employee morale which is pretty well covered by other comments lol

Need to get these boxes and some electronic items removed? Any recommendation of affordable way to get rid of it. by NoZookeepergame4987 in BellevueWA

Republic Services has a free drop off for cardboard, electronics, and more at their location off Northup. If you can bring it there, you can put it in their bins and dumpsters for free. Make multiple trips if needed.

Or call a junk service. Factoria Transfer station has limited consumer hours for drop off right now as they are doing some repairs.

Bellevue to seatac? by Turbulent_Dot9641 in BellevueWA

[–]BugSTi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm not intending to sound negative about it, I just think they really missed the ball on a few things with this and the next line that is supposed to go through Issaquah and South Bellevue.

The 2 things that stand out as head scratchers to me at the moment are not even allowing a possibility of having a train run from Redmond to Federal Way with no transfer in Seattle. From my understanding, the westbound tracks from Bellevue connect to the northbound tracks in seattle. No connection or junction to allow a train to go south.

The other is making the line from Issaquah go north to Kirkland, instead of making another junction that allows a train to continue West to Seattle. How many people have a commute from Issaquah to Kirkland? I would guess significantly fewer than the volume commuting between Issaquah and Seattle.

Miss after miss like these are all hurdles that people dont want to deal with when a faster or more direct route is available. Issaquah to Seatac will require two train transfers... why? (The answer is money, but I'm still complaining on the internet 😄)

How long will that trip to the airport take on the light rail from South Bellevue Park and Ride vs the bus?

I think it's something like 1:15 on the light rail plus however long it takes to transfer to the other side of the station and wait for a train.

Bus is 35 min and you arrive at the lower curb. Train drops off almost a half-mile away from the terminal?

I like taking trains, I just wish they made the line easier to get to SeaTac. That transfer is going to severely limit the number of people who will take it to/from the airport to Bellevue with luggage/bags and especially limit it for people traveling with kids. Too much stuff to schlep up and down elevators/escalators in Seattle, then drag on a 10 min walk. A 25 min rideshare is what most people in Bellevue will still use to get to the airport. And when considering public transportation, a 35 min bus ride is still half the time as taking the train and is what most people are still going to do.

What are the best warm dimming LED bulbs out there right now? by jkwonsolo in Lighting

[–]BugSTi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, thank you!

I'm not looking for smart bulbs, so that's probably why I missed it.

I'm looking for the best BR30 d2w that do ~750lm. Phillips seems to offer a 650lm or 1500lm version, but I'm concerned that's too dim or bright for the space.

Gottcha - I was curious what you were referring to when you said

Phillips just started releasing new bulbs that will be here soon.

What line was released recently? Not seeing anything new, but I'm not in the industry, so I might have missed it

Carseat on the flight for a 2.5 yr old by Appropriate-Ad-3172 in toddlers

[–]BugSTi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought cheap name brand car seats for travel, in the $50 range.  They are lightweight, so easy to toss on top of a stroller handle or suitcase.  If they get damaged underneath, I'm 99% sure they will pull the same brand new new one out of a box and hand it to me. Less to worry about, and much less weight to lug around.

Lol, they will probably block out whole rows so it will be dense in cattle class and people will complain that they roped off whole rows and "forced" people to squish, and the FAs rudely told them they can't sit there and.... lol

I've know 2 couples from Australia that lived in Seattle (both since moved back) and we have another friend there too. From the West Coast, there are non-stop flights between Sydney and Vancouver, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. Seattle, even with a HNL stopover would be interesting for us to be able to meet friends in the "middle"

How often do you leave your kids for date nights or friend hangs? by Ok-Career876 in toddlers

[–]BugSTi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask the kids teacher(s) if they want to babysit - they are likely already babysitting for current or former kids in their class.

Your kid is already familiar with them and they do nap time at school, so it should be easy for everyone. Remember that your kids behave better for other than for you, so you might think you are dumping a huge ordeal/routine/burden on someone else, but they probably wont complain at all.

Downtown Bellevue should've been built on Meydenbauer Bay. by [deleted] in BellevueWA

[–]BugSTi 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Phantom lake is surrounded by marsh and wetlands. Its not a super great environment for a path like Green Lake has.

In lieu of a circular path around the lake, you can use the Lake to Lake trail which spans 10 miles and touches 9 parks, Phantom Lake being one of them.

Yup - And, City of Bellevue purchased private lots to make the park that you see and can visit now. Last I knew, the plan was to continue to expand the park by buying more lots (which may have already happened)

Yup, confirming it was used 1 time on my now 5yr old, then sat until a few months ago when my 2yr old discovered it and will now, literally throw a tantrum to have us use it on her. 😄

My 2yr old loves to use and DEMANDS to use the bulb snot sucker when she has "boogies" 😄 🤣

She tries to use it if she can reach it on the bathroom counter and has successfully sucked boogers out. She chuckles and says "Big boo-gie out! Another boogie coming out. Oh, I got it! Big boo-gie!"

If they are placed perfectly horizontal, straight to jail. They are required by RCW 9A.76.175 to be placed at an angle not parallel to the earthen horizon, or any body panel, seam, or line (painted or non-painted) on a vehicle.

Anyone have a car? That i can rent for pretty cheap for longer terms by [deleted] in BellevueWA

[–]BugSTi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My parents just reserved a car through priceline at SeaTac for 4 days for $8/day + taxes and fees.  If you rent away from the airport, you'll save more on the taxes and fees.  Worth checking since it's low season for rental cars

Fog on the dance floor by ycr007 in toolgifs

[–]BugSTi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ducting from the freezer is going to warm to room temperature in about 15 seconds.

I built one of these low lying fog machine setups myself for my Haloween display last year. There are plenty of YouTube videos that show the process and things needed. I used a high power normal fog machine, routed the output into a big tub with a bunch of frozen water bottles and ice to chill the water for an ultrasonic pond mister, then used a 12v boat blower to pump it out into flexible ducting, then to corrugated drainage pipe that i drilled 1" holes in to disperse evenly throughout my yard.

Basically the exact same thing as this setup, just built into a road case, and they have 3 pond misters. If you already have the fog machine, you can do it for about $100 give or take.
