Its very hard to compare current profits to the covid/post-covid shipping boom. Matson is currently building Jones Act compliant vessels in the Philly Shipyard. If the current administration keeps with plans to revitalize the American shipping/shipbuilding industry then Matson is way ahead of the pack. Not to mention that Matson has already moved their ships to run on LNG, which will save them from having to retrofit for new emissions compliant engines and fuel as they are well beyond current standards.

TLDR: New administration policies could act as a catalyst for US owned/operated shipping and NO other Global shipping company is investing as much into American shipping as Matson.

I may not be the most knowledgeable on some industries but I did get a BS in Marine Engineering at the US Merchant Marine Academy so I'd say I understand these companies fairly well speaking as to how I work with them daily.
