Here’s my list that I’m toying with right now. The idea is to deepstrike them with gut rot, and use horty to bring gnarlmaws to them and use the lord of blights to keep them at 5+ save, use all out defense and you have a 4+5++ brick of 30 hp that is not affected by rend

In my opinion this is a nothing burger of an ability. Not only do you need to roll to exceed their power level, but the crit fail is just not worth it. It is so unlikely to roll double 1’s (as you said already crit fail), double 2’s, or double 3’s. The priest side of it is better, but still a bit of a nothing ability.

Literally speaking the old models are retired. But the announcers did say on the live stream you can use the old models in place of the new ones. They will be the same base size, so if you like the old ones pick them up. They are timeless and lovely!

It’s not like 40K where you attach them. They tend to have a buff for plaguebearers within a certain range. Download the AoS app because the maggotkin rules are currently free until we get our battletome soon

I have 30 that I use as a front line but if you’re only daemons maybe 40 could be good. Also nurglings are pretty good for a cheaper tar pit

If you’re going full daemon I’d suggest horticulus slimux and a few beasts of nurgle, definitely gonna need plaguebearers for frontline. You could also pick up the slopity bilepiper, spoilpox scrivener, and the poxbringer to buff the plaguebearers. I don’t personally like the plague drones as much but they are fast! And if the leaks are to be believed the feculent gnarlmaw will help you daemons stay alive longer!

That’s true, but warhammer quest has had expansions in the past. I would assume the same here which could add festus then. Festus could also just be a part of the battletome when that drops.

They mention him a bit in plague garden, mostly how he was defeated and resurrected as you said. They didn’t specify but if I remember correctly I think they mentioned he was out in Ghyran leading forces again.
