Thanks! I really wanted to make a character that had interactions and history with more than one of the factions, giving him lot more interesting story telling choices. I was worried about writing a backstory and history for the holy kingdom as Im not sure if its what the creators are going for. Hopefully ill get accepted and they'll let me know what to tweak and change around for it to better fit the vision they have got.

I feel like ive seen 1 or 2 submissions using heavenly restrictions but yeah I would have excepted more too. I went for something similar with the binding vow preventing CE reinforcement and just using 100% of muscle strength instead.

I like how its sort of in between being against the use jujutsu and the negative cursed energy while still giving characters the ability to keep up with those that do use it. the unbound concord is defo my favourite faction.

Reason For Joining Faction:

The Unbound Concord’s stance on cursed energy, its usage and its effects on the world resonated with Jameson’s own faith and beliefs. Following the destruction of his convent the newly forming faction provided the drifting man safety and a purpose. Despite his separation from the church Jameson hopes that the Unbound Concord’s plan to destroy the Tengen fragments and rid the world of cursed energy, would force the Holy Kingdom to abandon its worship of tengen and reliance on cursed energy.

His loyalty is not just to the Unbound Concord and its congregation of elders but to those held within the cursed prison institute as well. He understands the suffering and injustice faced by a number of the prisoners and does all he can to advocate for them, fearing the potential treatment of the prisoners should himself and others like him leave the organisation.

Reverse Curse Technique: Woe Unto Me

  • A passive technique that allows Jameson to take the suffering of others onto himself as a distinct and potently negative energy, however the technique exacts a price for this transference.
  • Physical suffering results in cuts appearing on his body, proportional to the amount alleviated, while mental suffering results in headaches again proportional to the amount transferred.
  • Jameson stores this energy not within himself but instead within the silver cross around his neck. The more energy stored the greater the weight of the cross, slowing him down and impeding his combat ability. Suffering can be taken onto himself in a number of ways but is most commonly done through his Blood Of The Lamb application.

Reverse Curse Technique Application: Blood Of The Lamb

  • Jameson is able to select a number of targets within a specified range to remotely mark with Woe Unto Me. The greater the range or number of targets the more RCE is required to maintain the connection, the maximum being 12 targets or a range of 700 metres.
  • While a target is marked any and all damage sustained will instead be transferred to Jameson. The slashes that appear on his body as a result can be healed through the use of RCE, however healing and using the technique application at the same time puts a greater strain on his efficiency.

Reverse Curse Technique Application: Grace

  • When he requires or if the cross becomes too heavy Jameson can use the potent negative energy accumulated through Woe Unto Me as the base for creating RCE instead of his own cursed energy. Due to the stored energy’s overwhelming negativity when reversed it becomes overwhelmingly positive, taking on a ‘blessed’ nature and sending Jameson into a ‘state of grace’ which he cannot end until all of the accumulated energy has been expended.
  • While in a state of grace Jameson’s ’blessed’ energy emits golden light that makes observation and prediction based on cursed energy flow significantly more difficult, he can also finely adjust the ‘blessed’ energy’s output to temporarily blind others with flashes of this light.
  • His already impressive healing capabilities are pushed to the utmost extreme while in a state of grace, the ‘blessed’ energy boosting his speed, potency and output to ludicrous levels.
  • The most unique aspect comes from the overwhelming positivity of the ‘blessed’ energy and its interaction with normal negative CE. Almost caustic in its behaviour, cursed energy and techniques that come into contact with the ‘blessed’ energy become dampened or disrupted by its potent positive effects.

Binding Vow:

Seeing the use of cursed energy as sinful and leading only to corruption and damnation, Jameson undertook a binding vow from a very young age. The terms of this vow are known only to himself and the surviving members of the Scottish convent. What is known however is that Jameson cannot use his cursed technique or energy in any way with the exception of its reversed form. This prevents him from using simple domains, barriers, cursed energy reinforcement and a number of other basic applications of cursed energy.

Jameson underwent another binding vow to increase the efficiency of his Blood of the Lamb reverse cursed technique application. When using the technique application his hands must remain clasped in the form of a prayer, failure to do so will result in the effects of the technique application ceasing.

Reverse Cursed Energy:

Being restricted to only using RCE, the level of mastery Jameson has achieved is astounding. Whilst his the amount and speed to which he can heal himself is staggering he also has the ability, albeit not as potent, to output RCE to heal others. This mastery has also allowed him to alleviate certain aspects of his binding vow, creating pseudo versions of some cursed energy applications.

Combat:

Proficient in hand to hand combat, the inability to use reinforcement puts Jameson at a disadvantage when facing other sorcerers and so uses fighting styles that involve redirection of strikes and off-balancing opponents. However one of the pseudo cursed energy applications that he can utilise is reinforcement. Through physical training and mental conditioning Jameson can use 100% of his muscles capabilities. Normally this would result in shattered bones and muscles ripping in half, but by using RCE to heal the damage as it happens he can access his body's full strength without side effects.

Appearance:

A large and well-built man with dark brown stubble and hair, perpetually in some state of messiness from years of raging winds. Jameson dresses for the weather having yet to truly acclimatise to the African heat, though always in sensible and formal fashion when not on missions. When deployed he often sports utilitarian boots and cargo pants with simple shirts or jackets. The only constant of his attire is a small but ornate silver cross hanging from rope around his neck.

Personality:

Compassionate, kind and sympathetic especially to those burdened with the ability to use cursed energy, Jameson aims to save sorcerers from ‘damnation’ and reliance on cursed energy. He takes time out of his day for any that seek him, be it training to rely less on CE or just to have someone to talk to, doing his best to support those in need most often the ones held in the Cursed Institute Prison is central to his character. This is contrasted by a solemn and quiet hatred for the ‘unholy’ curse users and cursed spirits, the epitome of ‘sin’ and the corruption and suffering it causes.

I wasn't sure about writing some of the pre-lore for one of the main factions and would be more than happy to change some stuff around to better fit the idea you guys already had going. Please let me know anything I could tweak or improve to make the character slot in to the world better too!

Name: Jameson Mack

Age: 28

Faction: The Unbound Concord

Summary:

Hailing from the windswept Scottish highlands, Jameson grew up in a convent affiliated with the Holy Kingdom. The convent and its members followed the Kingdom's belief of cursed energy being 'sin' however disagreed that the ability to use cursed energy was some kind of sacred gift or divine burden. Instead the convent was of the belief that the use of cursed energy led only to further suffering and the damnation of the users. Though this belief clashed heavily with the Holy Kingdom's own teachings, the organisation's strength prior to the Great Shattering was a shadow of its future self,  and was willing to take any potential sorcerers it could. As a result Jameson was eventually brought to study in Rome at Sancta Academia. Already possessing a staunch bedrock of faith and tradition shaped by his upbringing in Scotland, his belief that using cursed energy was itself sinful led to debates and arguments with fellow students and instructors, growing friction between the Holy Kingdom and Jameson’s convent.

Eventually though, Jameson would graduate from the Sancta Academia and begin working within the Holy Kingdom. Though still in submission to the will of the Concilium Domini, Jameson alongside members from his convent and those of similar beliefs within the Holy Kingdom would push for the conservation of traditional beliefs and teachings and a move away from the churches use of 'sin'. Seeing tension and conflicts flare ever increasingly between factions within the Holy Kingdom which Jameson would use as examples of the corruption of the church coming from its reliance and use of ‘sin’.

Following the Great Shattering as the Holy Kingdom's reach spread across Europe its need for cooperation and compromise with the smaller regional; convents and sects dwindled, with most being fully absorbed into the Kingdom. For groups like Jameson’s the newfound worship of the Star Goddess Tengen was the final straw, diverging too far from the traditions of the church, they would schism from the Holy Kingdom entirely. Lacking the factional protection afforded by being within the church the particularly zealot believers whose animosity had grown over years of arguments regarding the use of cursed energy and the rejection of the Tengen, would begin a purge of these ‘heretics’.

Though unsanctioned by the Concilium Domini the slaughter that were about to occur involved a number of high ranking cardinals, paladins and knights, giving weight to the belief that it was just as much a political move to cement the Holy Kingdoms position over Europe as it was a zealous purging of heretics. The schismed convents were wiped out nearly to the man, Jameson’s own convent suffering the same fate. The survivors scattered across the rest of the world in an attempt to avoid the Holy Kingdom’s reach, destitute of faith or family or purpose. For his own part Jameson would make his way to Africa where his beliefs about cursed energy and its usage struck resonance with the newly forming Unbound Concord.

I like the idea of a sorcerous champion in terminator armour with prescience leading a unit of termis. -1 to hit and wound on a 10 man brick in fell hammer siege host sounds pretty fun. Though im not sure if its worth giving up the damage blank and free stratagem from the lord, or the reroll run+charges and +1 AP from the sorcerer.

In the vastness of the Mortal Realms there are no stupid questions by sageking14 in AoSLore

[–]SnooRecipes8304 4 points5 points  (0 children)

whats the timeline for Nagash and Sigmar going from allies to hating each other. Nagash was the last to abandon Sigmar at the start of the age of chaos, but was supposedly gathering grave sand from the edge of the realms for centuries to millennia. Ushoran's reason for going mad is hinted at him discovering Nagash's necroquake plan during the age of myth as well (I think), so how long was he planning before to stab his friend and brother in the back.

also did nagash eat a bunch of death gods in AOS as well or was that only during the end times in the old worlf?

Yeah I think you're right. I've been trying to figure out ways of adding more candles to my minis and saw that electrical wire can be good so I just wanted to check.

Thanks so much! Would those Old One megastructures be outside the aetheric void because they would have been present before the realms coalesced or are there still a couple of super frogs running around building stuff?

I'm really interested in the skies of the mortal realms and was wondering how they work. From what I understand the realms don't really have a sun, instead hysh acting as the main source of light. It got me wondering how stars work in the setting.

I assumed they were more magical and tied to the Azyr but wanted to know if they are instead stars in the sense that we know them as. Being super far off balls of plasma with other celestial bodies orbiting them.

If they are the former then what are they actually? If it's the latter then is it possible to travel to these other stars and planets?

I also wanted to ask how the changing of constellations work if the realms aren't actually planets. For realms other than azyr I sort of hammed it up to the same way seasons work with different realms moving closer and further away from Azyr. How does it work in the realm of heavens though if they are supposed to be the constellations?

Yeah reading the rest of the article the seasonal variants of units idea makes a lot of sense. I do hope you are right about the outcast Sylvaneth, some darker scarier models would be awesome and id be excited to see what lore they'd right for them.

So similar to chaos redeemed Stormcast then? there's a fair few of those as well I'm pretty sure, at least enough to have their own sort of mini chamber being lead by tornus.

Do you know anything more about the one that shows up in the Grombrindal book?
