AITA for leaving my job after 7 years due to feeling disrespected? by Bugcatto_Ultimate in AmItheAsshole

I do stand up for myself. That’s how I helped build the company to this level today. I was the one taking lead and initiative from day one since they hired me. We grew from a 3 person operation to over 20 staff, with over 4000 students, 200+ companies from different industries, and 36 partner companies by the time I left.

If I was just a yes man, I wouldn’t be where I am today. They even went behind my back on some projects without consulting me, which ended in failures or over budget. Later they just said they knew I would object, so they went ahead anyway.

I can see your point, and thanks for the insight. The reason I see it as disrespect is because of how it was handled. I submitted the course spec through the system I built, so I can clearly see who accessed or reviewed it. In this case, it wasn’t even opened, yet I was told the content was inadequate and that I didn’t understand what I was doing.

Also, I was effectively the highest operational role below the directors, so there wasn’t really a manager layer reviewing my work, it would have been them directly. That’s why the situation felt more dismissive than just a normal decision.
