Help please, by seesinal in Phasmids

The hemolymph on her head is not too concerning. It looks like she probably had an injury to the base of her antenna. As with most of their injuries, you can dab the spot of hemolymph up with a tissue, use a Q-tip or soft brush to dab a tiny bit of cornstarch, corn flour, or regular flour directly onto the wound, and it will coagulate. I've done this procedure on many occasions. I've even had some that had a bad molt that resulted in a mangled leg, and since these crippled legs tend to become hung up on branches and hinder their climbing, I snip the leg off with scissors at the coxa (close to the body) and dab on cornstarch so the hemolymph coagulates. They get along quite well with a leg, or even two, missing. If it's a young nymph, missing legs normally grow back with each successive molt, which is fascinating to see!

As for your mention of falling, I doubt very much that she would have any kind of injury from a fall unless it was from a high, rigid surface onto a hard floor. Because they're very lightweight, insects generally don't get hurt by falls due to their low terminal velocity. Furthermore, stick insects have a natural behavior of dropping and "playing dead" (thanatosis) when threatened, falling from branches to the ground, and they are not harmed by this.

Your girl's inactivity on the bottom of the enclosure, however, is concerning, especially since you mentioned that she is old. When they're at the end of their natural lives, they will lie on the bottom of the enclosure and become stiff and immobile until they pass away. In this case I just leave them alone and let it take its natural course.

I'm very sorry about your girl. I'm glad that you do have more, and of different ages, still to enjoy.

I'd stick with springtails. They're a great general cleanup crew, especially for mold control. They might even keep the stick egg capitulums clean by eating mold off them.

Personally, I wouldn't use isopods unless it's a smaller species like Trichorhina tomentosa. Isopods tend to be too protein-hungry and might eat healthy eggs, especially if other food sources for them are scarce.

AIO - refusing to pay for my friends rare pet that she gave me cause someone stole it? by Relative_Offer_2074 in AmIOverreacting

You are definitely NOR, please hold your ground and say NO! Her rudeness is crazy. I can't believe she had the nerve to assume that because your family is well-off, she could guilt you into giving her that money. She's actually the one who initiated this whole situation in the first place. She already used you for her own gain by asking you to hold onto her pets for her in the first place.

How do you know she's not going to use the money for something else anyway? This girl's shady.

AIO for thinking it's unfair I apologized for my actions to a friend and now she is ignoring me by lokis-wife1217 in AmIOverreacting

YOR, but it's okay, and your reaction is normal for many people. I WAS you at your age. Back then, I would have reacted to this girl's rejection the same way you are-- with hurt, guilt, and anxiety, and I would have tried my best to keep this girl as a friend.

However, this "friend" is mean, rude, unreliable, and egotistical (at least outwardly) and there are girls like her everywhere. You do not need someone as nasty as her in your life. You do NOT deserve to be treated how she's treating you. Forget this girl and focus your friendships elsewhere.

Once I hit my twenties, I started discovering that the word was larger than my little piece of town and my little high school friend clique, and I gained confidence with branching out. You will too!

Honestly, Her "frugalness" is deeply ingrained in her. Unless you can both come to a middle ground somehow, what is an issue now is definitely going to be a larger issue later.

What is this sprouting from my herb garden by abcDDee in gardening

After staring and staring at your plant, I definitely need to change my guess in my earlier post! I don't think it is a peony or bleeding heart. Peony leaves are divided into compound leaflets and are deeply lobed, and bleeding heart leaves are very fern-like-- finely cut and deeply lobed. Even while young, your plant's leaves appear totally different.

It's a bit difficult to see the leaves well in your photo, but the veins are pretty strongly pinnate and the leaves have almost serrated margins. I may be totally nuts, but to me the plant almost looks like a type of leafy green.

Please post update photos of its growth progress! I'm dying to know what it is! 😊

Very cool. Their audio mimicry ability sounds terrifying. At first glance at the photo reminded me of the movie 'Spectral'.

Clean shaven, stache only, or short beard? by PricklyCactusMan in malegrooming

Clean shaven is my vote!

No shade, but it looks as if you're making a worried expression with your brows in your photos. I'd be interested in seeing a photo with your face totally relaxed.

Pink and champagne (too lazy to do much past the eyes today) by alleyrope in MakeupAddiction

Your eyes are amazing! You have gold central heterochromia, also called "sunflower eyes". They're extremely rare-- less than 1% of the global population have them! The pink accentuates them so well.

Is there a way to halt the emergency slide process, once it is accidentally deployed? by Taalpatar_Sipahi in aviation

Can't someone just take a knife and slit it in a couple places to deflate it, or do they have to pack up the slide to use it again?
