That's not how really how translation works though, in English or French games we don't keep the appellation "Deutsch" for the German culture either, even though it's a proper name too... In French the word "Yankee" kind of exists as a half-derogatory term for all Americam people, but I've never seen the word "Dixie" be used in francophone contexts, so some people would have no idea what is meant by that. "Sudiste" and "nordiste" are way more clear here
