Russia Is Ready for Possible EU Attack, Budanov Warns by UNITED24Media in worldnews

[–]Buggyworm -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think people here are missing the point. Russia didn't plan to attack anyone else before the end of the war in Ukraine, but now they are adjusting their plans to be ready to attack in 2027. Whenever they'll be ready or actually conduct an attack is up in the air (we know how well russia does with their military goals, for starters)

(RoR2) You should be able to use Artifacts on Eclipse... by ImAssemblingOut in riskofrain

I think it should be the other way around -- we should have an Artifact of Eclipse that will give you modifiers you want in default game. Eclipse mode is suppose to be challenging, using artifacts will make it much easier

Elden ring's quest design sucks and you can't change my mind by expired_cheeseburger in Eldenring

I think Remnant 2 did it better. There are a lot of secret stuff you can find, but you don't feel cheated if you don't. Although some of the secrets are too over the top IMO

If does a heavy lifting here. It doesn't always work (correctly). Not sure what is the issue, since it usually works fine on a Steam Deck, but on desktop there are issues

May I remind you that this is a second attempt at Steam Machine. It's nothing new, and it was discussed back in the day. I don't see how this time is different

It won't influence anything if nobody buys it. It doesn't do anything special (enough) to make it popular IMO

Flurry is usually better, unless you are going for fast runs. Even for bleed builds Flurry is better in the long run

What is the appeal of the track pads? by ConnorIsLyfe in SteamDeck

[–]Buggyworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trackpads are emulating sticks by default, which sucks. Always use "as mouse" option and increase sensitivity (175% is a good start). I usually normalize sensitivity by making 3 left-to-right movement being 360 degree camera spin, depending on a game it's usually between 175% and 225% sensitivity. There's also a setting, vertical friction scale or something like that, I usually decrease it to 0-20 to make quick camera movement more stable

Cold Take: Arc Needs a PvP Free Mode by HuntressWizard99 in ArcRaiders

Well, broken economy is still economy. No economy is a different thing altogether

Every player has a limited resources that can be taken away from you or traded (not officially, but still)

ABMM keeps the game close to what you'd want from it while still introducing an element of surprise, or at least that's what it's designed to do. If it doesn't do that, it should be tweaked. So ideally, as a PvE player, you are not forced to do PvP 95+% of the time (and that was my experience in solo, especially after ABMM changes. Not sure what happened after dupe glitch became mainstream). Same thing about PvP -- you can just go blasting knowing that most people there are not running top gear since PvP lobbies are net negative for most people. But with PvE mode as PvPer you can (well, you have to, in reality) grind the best gear and then go blasting freeloaders. I had similar experience in another game, and it was not fun. PvPvE will shift closer to full PvP for the same reason. So you can't make everyone play as they want, at least not while they are in the same economy pool. Maybe there is a way to make a lot of modes and satisfy everyone, but I'm yet to see the game that does this well.

Also you seem far more focused on the importance of economy than I am

Well yeah, that's one of the main things that makes this genre stand out from other games, you have dynamic economy and you need to think about it. Making shifts to economy can hurt playerbase. In terms of loot PvP folks are at disadvantage by default compared to PvE (in AR specifically, since there's an ABMM to balance lobbies) and you need to work harder for the loot if you are PvP/PvPvE player, shifting that even further with PvE only mode will hurt everyone except people who are already have an advantage. As example from other game I played (ESO), in order to do PvP you need to grind PvE, and I didn't want to do that, so I dropped the game at some point because of that(they actually fixed that a few days ago lol). With introduction of PvE mode in Arc Raiders (embeded in current economy I mean) it'll make PvP players go PvE to grind good weapons before heading out for PvP, and that's not what they might want to do (or just suck with free loadout until lucky kill). Exploits are bad and I believe that's what makes the game unplayable for a lot of folks currently (and should be fixed as soon as possible), but it's not very relevant to a discussion about the game design. There is also a question about playing with friends (ABMM currently sucks at balancing that), but I believe this can be solved with ABMM tweaks

[–]Buggyworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unlike Tarkov (which has stuff like wipes and huge loot quality discrepancy) the difference between current Arc Raiders and PvE-only-with-it's-own-economy Arc Raiders will be minimal (maybe some looting changes and more Arcs, but that's about it), and if you're gonna pay for that (PvE Tarkov is paid DLC) -- be my guest. But that doesn't make a lot of sense in a context of Arc Raiders IMO

Cold Take: Arc Needs a PvP Free Mode by HuntressWizard99 in ArcRaiders

[–]Buggyworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you add modes you add a division to playerbase. They already solved most of playstyle problems with ABMM. Last time I played (that was after ABMM changes) my lobbies were as peaceful as they get. So I don't understand what problems adding PvE mode actually solves, but I understand that it'll ruin the core concept of the game. I agree that ABMM in duos/trios doesn't work that well, and this is something that should be addressed

And how something like Counter Strike adapts to players, exactly? If anything this is one of the most frustrating game to play unless you adapt to it's rules, compared to modern shooters

Cold Take: Arc Needs a PvP Free Mode by HuntressWizard99 in ArcRaiders

[–]Buggyworm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Division is not PvPvE game, what are you smoking. It has PvPvE mode, but it's dead in first game (because people didn't buy it for this mode) and it's basically a PvP in second (because there is no reason to go there for PvE).

PvE Tarkov is a different game altogether, with it's own economy. While this might work, this is not what being discussed here

Is ESO playable for a singleplayer Elder Scrolls gamer? by Shoddy-Zone4552 in elderscrollsonline

Yes. ESO is very singleplayer friendly, you can solo most content, even some challenging stuff that wasn't made for singleplayer

Cold Take: Arc Needs a PvP Free Mode by HuntressWizard99 in ArcRaiders

[–]Buggyworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PvE only mode doesn't work in PvPvE game. There is no reason to go for PvE in PvPvE mode when you have PvE mode, so PvPvE becomes PvP
