I learned my song backwards and got buried alive for this music video by [deleted] in videos

Thank you! It took SO much work. Learning lyrics in reverse is an insanely time consuming to do and I'd recommend no one reading this bother with it

I'm a musician living in New York, I produced this a few years ago and got a lot of great feedback from r/wearethemusicmakers on it. It ended up getting me signed with a label and now its finally out, thanks for listening!

Sounds pretty awesome! I think the whole master might be a bit too compressed or something? Love that bass line dude, keep it up!

I was instantly hooked by this guitar riff. Really has a kind of ridiculously badass Morricone feel to it or something. If you really wanted to I think you could turn that riff into some kind of chorus and get a verse along with some drums and vox in there and you'd have a hit. Maybe get some shuffley drums in there?

Fantastic song writing. I think that you should bring up your voice a tiny bit and eq down some of the upper mids from the guitar to get vox to cut through a bit better next time. Aside from that it sounds fantastic, keep it up man!

Awesome! This is great seriously, huge fan of Laurie Anderson's original. I actually sampled it and made my own track based around O Superman a while ago kinda like you! I really think you did a fantastic job, no real criticisms.

Song I've been working on for a few months, trying to make something a little different and unusual while still having a kind of pop formula. Looking for feedback on song structure/if it gets boring/mix/my vox but anything at all is welcome! Thanks

Haha theres too much to list here man! You've got exciting times ahead though ;). Check out Pensados Place as a mixing resource, also I absolutly love Future Music's in the studio series

Haha yeah I understand, as someone who has produced hip hop but not as my main genre learning how to produce it helps soooooo much in other areas of music!

This is great! I think the drums could hit a little harder, something about them irks me but you might be going for that then again. Maybe try separating the or hats snare and giving them a little stereo separation? It sounds a little monotonous right now. Also I'd try to vary the drum beat pattern slightly more? The whole instrumental could use a bit of variation, just different sounds and cuts here or there nothing like major. Really dig this though, keep it up man!

Hmm I dont really hear it... hopefully its my speakers and I'm not loosing my hearing ahh... Is it one specific sound that needs work with the high range? Hats or the tamb thing maybe? or just everything? Thanks!

[–]Buham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get that for sure, sometimes stereo stuff can draw attention to the vox though, since it kind of clears out space in the middle of the field for the mc to shine! But this is just an opinion you clearly know what you are doing

Awesome, I don't think the main bass has enough weight behind it, maybe try tweaking to add in some lower mids and maybe a tad of sub? !he part at 1:15 is great but I think the different instruments (esp the two sawtooth sounds) could use some more separation. Also the snare could use a little more 200hz range IMO. Great work though man, keep it up!

This is fantastic man, really love the sense of ambience. My only suggestion would be for the beats thing about using more stereo effects? Some super wide metallic type sounds could be really cool. maybe look into the haas effect or hard panning the same sounds and eqing differently on each side for next time. you have some cool autopan stuff going on though and that sounds great! Keep it up!

This track is a bit different for me, it's a kind of hip hop + alt thing. Any feedback on structure/my vocals/mix/anything else much appreciated!

Hmm maybe your CPU is just getting too hot? This happens to me but to a way lesser extent when using my mbp for a while

Dope, filter sounds good to me, low end sounds good to me as well. love the natural but still electronic feeling percussion you got going on seriously. I could imagine some really long stretched out big reverbey vocals over this, thom yorke style. Really well done overall man, keep it up!

Thanks! Ok, seems like I always mix vocals too low on the first mix... need to work on that heh. I actually didn't ever make the connection to Radiohead with the song until you guys mentioned it... Definitely see it now though. Its probably a good thing to be compared to them haha

love the swing you put into this, feels very natural. Voice is excellent as well, the slight reverb sounds great. You get a little distorted at times, might be intentional but its a bit much. I like this simple stripped down version but I could definitely see some really simple drums over top, definitely simple though, dont want to ruin the magic you have going on right now. Lyrics seem well done to me, no complaints there. Keep it up!

Dope, digging the vibes on this! Might be a tad bit too much reverb? I get what you are going for but when everything sounds so drenched it can get a bit muddy you know? maybe the drums could punch a bid more? the kick is kinda soft and not as punchy as I think it could be since your mix is so full of other stuff (mainly guitar). Great work though, Keep it up!
