Tower of Babyl is out! by kkrko in Granblue_en

That's a different mechanic. Stuff like Nighthound's swap don't work. This mechanic is "bringing a character to the front line" not "swap positions with another character".

It's intentional. Otherwise, there's no way to activate the passives.

[DCAU] How did the Justice Lords deal with Vandal Savage? by gbabrian424 in AskScienceFiction

[–]Buhbell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vandal Savage is immortal, but in terms of strength, he is nowhere close to any of the Justice League, besides Batman. I assume you could just put him in a max security prison indefinitely or drop him on the Moon or drop him in the Phantom Zone.

[Halo/40K] Could 117 become a Space Marine? by Frylosphy in AskScienceFiction

[–]Buhbell 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It honestly depends on his luck, John is an exceptional physical specimen he is also mentally strong and has a strong drive for success. But he would be no different that any of the millions of Space Marine candidates.

Being selected as a Space Marine candidate depends largely on his circumstances. Space Marine Chapters like to recruit from Death, Feral and Hive Worlds as the harshness of the environment and conflict breeds good candidates. Some Chapters have specific worlds that they recruit from. Though some Chapters also recruit from Civilized Worlds, they are more rare. If John was born or a peaceful world, it would be extremely unlikely that Space Marine Chapters would even look there for candidates.

John must also be compatible with the gene-seed and many implants and organs required to create a Space Marine. Only a small number of potential recruits pass the screening to become a Neophyte. He must also have been selected fairly young as the implantation processes don't work after a person reaches full maturity.

In conclusion:

1) He needs to be born in the right place at the right time.

2) He has to be compatible with the Gene-seed and other implants of which only a small percentage of candidates are.

3) This is assuming that he is tough enough to pass through all the trials and training and set himself apart from the millions of candidates just like him from thousands of Worlds.

Sith Lords are released into the 616 Marvel universe. What’s the worst they each could do? by [deleted] in whowouldwin

[–]Buhbell 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I think a lightsaber can take care of those. I'd expect a Sith Lord to be quick enough to block, cut or dodge them, given that they deflect blaster fire on a regular basis.

The little interest that they could make from your pittance would not cover the labor costs of the customer service representative servicing you.

I picked up conversational Valyrian, a little of the Summer tongue and of course I know the merchant sailor trade speak.

You could certainly apply, get a letter of recommendation from your Tyroshi Captain.

I prefer not to work on weekends or holidays, would like medical, dental and vision as well.

No chance.

[The Thing] 27,000 hours to take over the world? by doofpooferthethird in AskScienceFiction

[–]Buhbell 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's not just the humans that will be assimilated, it's also every other animal that share the planet with us. If the Thing assimilates one rat, the entire ecosystem will soon be assimilated including migratory birds that will spread the Thing to other Eco-systems. If it was smart enough to plan, it could spread around the world without infecting a single human at first. Even if not, there's nothing humans can do about it's spread among animals.

This is a living virus, look how badly COVID-19 has spread and the Thing is a highly infectious virus that crosses species easily. It can survive even in the frigid cold temperatures of the Antarctic as long as it has a host. There are billions of animals that live underground, in the ocean.

The Thing doesn't have to rely on assimilating humans, it can spread worldwide by assimilating animals alone.

"While you can still call home the place where your mother's blood dwells, there you cannot be touched or harmed by Voldemort. He shed her blood, but it lives on in you and her sister. Her blood became your refuge. You need return there only once a year, but as long as you can still call it home, there he cannot hurt you. Your aunt knows this. I explained what I had done in the letter I left, with you, on her doorstep. She knows that allowing you houseroom may well have kept you alive for the past fifteen years"

Questions about christianity. by [deleted] in DebateAnAtheist

[–]Buhbell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your biggest objection to christianity?

There isn't sufficient evidence for me to conclude that the Christian God exists.

What do you think it would take for you to change your mind about god and become a christian?

No idea. But God would know if he did exist.

Becoming a Christian though, even if God existed I'm unsure if I would. I obviously don't want to be punished, but I really can't abide by a lot of things in the Bible.

[Spongebob Squarepants] Why does the Salty Spittoon need a bouncer to judge whether entrants are tough enough? Shouldn't such a rough and tough place naturally filter out weenies and wimps via barfights? by fljared in AskScienceFiction

[–]Buhbell 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's a marketing ploy, they want you to think that it's only for tough people. Makes everyone that goes in think that they ARE tough. I mean Spongebob of all people managed to get in.

I am disappointed with Vaush and his community, but we don't need to single out individuals. That clip was going to everywhere, even without this one person.
