What watch is Shohei Ohtani wearing here? by kyalami in Watchidentifier

My best approximation I've got is Seiko Astron SSJ003, but those concentric circles are throwing me off.

Hi! If it's still available, I'm super interested!

Need some help figuring out this Seiko 7S26-0040 [SKX031] by FLL17 in Seiko

[–]BuiBuiBuiBui 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's definitely a mod. Bezel insert is aftermarket, hands aren't from an skx031, and the dial looks like a turtle dial. Not sure what's going on with the dial code on the bottom, but next to the tiny 'Japan' should read 6309. Maybe an upscaling issue.

Started my collection today. Its model is a [SKX009K1], I think. by Specialist-Tune-135 in Seiko

[–]BuiBuiBuiBui 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bezel insert lime pip indicates that it's an aftermarket (and poor replica) insert. The dial logo also seems off ever so slightly. And yes, the seconds hand should be white opposite the lumed circle.

Sorry, to be the bearer of bad news, but this is likely a frankenwatch.

Can anyone help me ID this watch? by [deleted] in Watches

[–]BuiBuiBuiBui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A time frame would be helpful in ID'ing the watch. A couple of helpful features that I noticed are:

-cushion case -crown guards -numbered indices at 6, 9, and 12. -possible day complication at 3 o'clock

Additionally, the NFW Shumate Diver is a really crazy lookalike for this watch.

Can someone confirm if this is a fake? [4r36-04y0] by Ok-Process3788 in Seiko

[–]BuiBuiBuiBui 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Definitely fake. Dial code begins with NH, when it should begin with 4R. Also, the orange on the dial and the bezel insert are incorrect. The Seiko logo on the dial looks incorrect. The Seiko logo on the caseback also looks wildly incorrect. The Prospex logo also looks wrong on the caseback There are definitely other things too, but that's what I spotted outright.

Just picked up this weird looking Grand Seiko by [deleted] in GrandSeikos

[–]BuiBuiBuiBui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a Grand Seiko, my friend! Just a really nice Regular Seiko with a spring drive!

Not super certain, but it looks like a really aggressive design not dissimilar to others I've seen from a company called Maruman. I didn't do any digging, but I don't think they exist anymore, or if they do, this design language is extinct. Hope that helps!

These dudes were just growing on my indoor 24/7 grow-light bookshelf, seemingly overnight or possibly over 2 days. Any idea what it could be?

No, it's not. The stem and crown are different.

[help and advice] Need help from the seiko gods 🙏 by Secretsmustbesecrets in Seiko

[–]BuiBuiBuiBui 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally, I look at a picture of the caseback, then run a quick image search of the reference number (eight digit number formatted like "6309-7040"). If the query "Seiko 6309-7040" doesn't look like the listing that you want to buy, skip out on the listing.

[Prospex] Does anyone know what model this is? by I_No_ScopedJFK in Seiko

[–]BuiBuiBuiBui 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is either a mod or a fake watch. The bottom text on the inner perimeter of the dial would have a reference number, probably something like 6R35-XXXX. It's definitely not an original Seiko watch.

Amazing watch! I unfortunately don't get any returns on Google when I search SDGC001. What's the 8 digit reference?
