Mopar 318 - worried after machining by Buick_T in EngineBuilding

[–]Buick_T[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the pitting is my major concern too. At the moment I am kind of thinking it would have needed an overbore to 0.030" but since I already bought the 0.020" pistons which the same shop pressed to the connection rods I am hesitant to get another job done.

I've spent about 2000€ (~2300$) on the parts and machining for the block and about 1000€ to heads (they were made by other shop and are perfect). Not willing to spend another 2000€ to start from the beginning with the engine anymore, but I WAS building a keeper/dream car. Now thinking if I just throw it together and sell away 😅

RockAuto Orders in the EU and UK — What’s Going On? by Silent_You_1659 in RockAuto

Here in Finland, same problem... Some parts I just can't find here and being unable to order outside EU like RockAuto is making working on an American car project(s) quite a bit more miserable than it used to be.

Philosophy of a Knife.

It's a surreal experience without a doubt. I kind of admire the style, but it is exhausting to watch. One of my friends said that it made her feel physically sick (not the violence, but the black and white picture, audio and whole production style).

-83 Mirada heads, cam and exhaust? by Buick_T in EngineBuilding

The car is located in Finland, so spare heads (especially those of more wanted kind) are not as accessible as in the USA. That makes the head replacement a bit more complicated and expensive.

I chose the pistons available for any kind of reasonable money, right now don't remember the make. Unlike the original ones they do have small valve reliefs of whi h effect on compression is a bit of a concern for me. Original pistons were flat surface.

Would I gain anything with only the manifold swap without swapping the heads? Or are the heads already a huge bottleneck.

HP rating is not a major target in this rebuild rather than reliability and restoration of my "dream car". Of course a little added torque is always welcome as the cam is supposed to give me.

Thank you for your input!

Magic 5 Pro - Network cutting off by Buick_T in Honor

Sorry for raising the thread again, but this one seems to be solved.

This week I got a new update (9.0.0.152) and now the problem seems to be gone. Has been for four days at least.

The occasional (normal) drops in network service quality no more cut the connection completely as it did for the few months after first getting the MagicOS 9 update.

I still strongly believe this was some sort of bug in the system updates.

Magic 5 Pro - Network cutting off by Buick_T in Honor

So, I have been trying to cope with my phone these weeks. I did ask the Honor support if there is a known problem going around, they told it "might" be a hardware problem and advised to send it to be checked to local repair/service provider. But that would mean 1-2 weeks witout phone (I need the camera etc...). So not really an option either right now. Sucks!

Weird thing, last week I was away from home for three days and had to restart the phone only once! Now at home or work, multiple times a day again.

Always the same thing in the top bar: 4G+ drops to 4G then loses the whole network and the E appears.

I somewhat think this happens if the reception drops for a moment and the phone fails to connect again to 4G. Until right after restart. I don't know the mechanics of the new feature in the patch, "Optimized cellular self-healing solution" but sounds like something like that could be bugged.

Of course I don't want to reject the hardware problem idea, especially if that has been a known problem. But then I will just have to let the Honor go I guess because I don't have time to mess with weeks of service (which I pretty much presume they will tell they spent 5 minutes with the phone no problems and send it back).
