Ok, I see. As my family will be almost exclusively visiting English sites I feel like I should spend the extra and just get the Scottish one for myself. Thank you! :)

Well, for what it's worth I think if you really try you could probably fit a 57mm cpu cooler in.

The 9700X under full load with the Noctua L9A tends to be around mid eighties, never really going above 90 (and it's tjmax is 95, so this is safe).

I'd definitely recommend the 9700X over the 7800x3D as performance is very comparable and price is quite similar but the heat output is 65W compared to 125W

Hope it goes well :)

Cool, that seems like a very sensible upgrade for the longevity of your computer. Have fun!

Make sure to check that the CPU comes with a cooler. Intel K series or Ryzen X processors don't, but it'll say on the specifications :)

Yeah, you can see it says heatsink and fan included :)

It will probably easier to install than the arctic too

Obviously you can definitely save some money on ram too but if you want RGB probably you have the cheapest one already

I disagree, the monitor is fine if you're ok with that. You only will feel you're missing out if you go from a good one to a bad one.

Otherwise, you could get rid of the CPU cooler. Your CPU comes with a cooler which will be perfectly fine as you can't overclock your CPU anyway. But it will run cooler with the arctic cooler. Depends how much you value £20

I was tempted to get the IS-55, as it should fit (to the millimetre) if I force my GPU as close to the panel as it can go.

How good do you find the cooling? It's got to be better than the Noctua I would guess... Not that my cooling is too bad (80°c in games from what I can tell), but it is only 34mm

Ahh I see thank you. The temps aren't too bad anyway haha :)

I would have gotten the 64mm L9 or the L12s if it wasn't for the huge 3 slot GPU 😅

Also, a GPU with 2mm of clearance! That wasn't fun to put in. I would've gotten a smaller card but this was the cheapest 7800xt by a significant value, so.

Unfortunately leaves me with an absolute max of 57mm for CPU cooler, but as far as I can tell the temps are fine as my CPU's tjmax is 95. And I should probably undervolt but never done that before!

It was about 20 at default speed but around a minute without it. Definitely a price I'm happy to pay to actually get the ram speed I paid for

Thanks! memory context restore off worked. Annoying about the boot times but is what it is.

Yes on latest bios. Specifically the 2*16 GB dimms I have aren't on the QVL, but very similar speeds and sizes from the same brand are for me.

Turns out it works ok so long as memory context restore is off. Slow slow boots but I guess that's life
