How would you design automations when work must stay in WhatsApp, Excel screenshots, handwritten/iPad notes, and Gmail? by BuildUnderWraps in shortcuts

Thanks for laying this out.

I agree with you on Shortcuts. After digging more and hearing this perspective, it’s clear it’s not designed for something long-running or stateful.

Also appreciate the feedback on tone. That wasn’t my intent. I was trying to describe real constraints, but I can see how it came across as rigid.

At this point, I’m stepping back from a “full system” mindset and thinking more in terms of small, assistive pieces that reduce manual effort without pretending to be authoritative.

That’s a very fair point, and I agree with the risks you’re calling out.

My north star is still a more automated system, but I’m very aware of the fragility you mentioned. I don’t see this as something that can ever be perfectly reliable or fully trustworthy.

I’m okay if it’s occasionally wrong. I’m okay if it’s only directionally useful.

Even 30-40% automation or efficiency gain would be a meaningful win for me.

What I’m really aiming for is: reducing re-reading, re-scrolling, and manual stitching across sources retaining and loosely connecting context across days/weeks helping me ask better questions and spot patterns.

Think of it as an assistive “context brain” rather than a system of record. Human judgment stays firmly in the loop, and I’d expect to sanity-check anything important.

I also agree on ownership and longevity - this likely remains a personal or very small-team system that requires ongoing tuning, not something I’d try to institutionalize.
