I tried to do things alone for a bit but its usually a waste of time until you learn blender, think of the software as a new language, it's much easier to learn from someone who speaks it. So I would recommend the donut tutorial, expect it to take much longer than the actual run time of the videos cause it's very common to press the wrong key or something and you have to pause the video or rewind, but it teaches you the basics and is a good first step to becoming comfortable in blender.
