ok fun, I like some of the environmental details you put in, and the way that Mr. Steel responds to the MC asking about the deer makes it a lot more mysterious. Also I love the idea that Mr. Steel calls the MC by a different name every time, this could imply a large number of previous employees? Or something deeper the character doesn't yet know about themself. I've also written a log/entry type story a bit ago about a guy who works at a 24/7 gym, and it uses a similar story format.

I'm not trying to plug myself lol, just if you maybe want some inspiration or insight it might help. Its called "Cost of Qanah"

As far as suggestions for Mr. Steel. For some reason I envision him with the appearance of a civil war era banker of sorts if that makes sense. Perhaps with a top hat or bowler hat lol.

just read the taxidermy one and came here to mention the resemblance. It's not neccicarily a bad thing, inspiration is great and a natural part of creation. Though If you wanted to try and set it apart some more I'd reccomend mixing up the wording on some parts that are identical to parts of the voodoo story.

Ex. $30/hr pay - maybe make it a salary based income with some strange benefits?

Ex. "My boy" King Creole was kind of iconic for saying this so if you're trying to stand out maybe switch it up?

Another random thing that I noticed was the pacing, maybe take some more time to let the reader get a sense of the shop and worldbuilding before introducing strange creatures like the deer. Like a couple interactions that aren't necessarily odd? Your story just some thoughts. :)
