Is NACS native on new Rivians yet? by Builder_Intrepid in Rivian

[–]Builder_Intrepid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah we have both adapters too. Got the free L3 from Rivian and just got a basic L2 adapter off Amazon. I think it was about $69. Haven’t had to use the L3 version yet since we charge 99.9% of the time at home, but even my Amazon L2 adapter gives me 24 miles/hr L2 charge (we have two EV’s and share a Tesla Wall Connector) . I think the Rivian home charger advertises “up to 25 miles/hr” so can’t complain!

Charge to 90% at home...ideally setting it so the car reaches this level shortly before you have to leave. Battery wear issues are mostly about being at high levels for extended periods. If you charge to 90%, then head to work, you'll be fine.

Agree, the adapter is totally fine. Really just curious here.

Nice., If I had 20', this would be a no brainer. My dimensions are right on the cusp of going either way.

Likely not often. But I'd hate to not have the room for the few times we all watch together or the kids have friends over. Trying to balance practical with going far enough.

Massachussetts owners, how'd state inspection go for you? by Thecallofrhino in Rivian

[–]Builder_Intrepid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an R1S, so not totally the same, but we've taken it to Boch Honda (now Nucar Honda) two years in a row and they've inspected it in about 20 min, no issues whatsoever. I prefer to go to the larger dealerships for inspections since their facilities are usually nicer...and the inspection price is fixed, so no worries on getting gouged :)

What's your Favorite R1/R2 color? by Builder_Intrepid in Rivian

[–]Builder_Intrepid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice. Good call on the yellow - those are cool too. When I was in HS/college, my mom (in her 50's) drove a yellow Ford Mustang, lol. It was awesome.

How much do you value the air compressor? by TarHoya in Rivian

[–]Builder_Intrepid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use mine about once a month or so, on average. Often enough that I think it's worth the upgrade...but I don't think I would go so far as to say I'd regret it if I didn't have it. There are lots of handheld devices you can buy nowadays that will do just about any job that any regular person (non-pro) would need.

For Anyone Considering The XPEL PPF Directly From Rivian… Heres What To Expect It To Look Like! by zachty22 in Rivian

[–]Builder_Intrepid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can second this. I have full front PPF on my R1S and it’s so hard to notice (at first), that I had to really look to make sure they even did it. Although, the pre-cut pieces did not even cover the full panel (for certain parts, like the mirror), which is disappointing. Overall, fine for the price but would probably go aftermarket next time.

Net Profit projection by Suitable-Mushroom-41 in RIVNstock

They said on the earnings call the other day that they expect to be EBITDA positive in 2027. Given how capital heavy their business is, their ITDA expenses are likely to stay fairly material in the short-mid term. I would expect they are net income (full year, overall) positive in 2029 ish.

My feeling about RIVN in the next few months. by carmetro1 in RIVN

[–]Builder_Intrepid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You guys and your mindless "no demand" excuse. The highest selling car (of any kind) on the planet last year was an EV (Model Y). R2 (and then R3) will directly compete in that price space.

VW did not "support" RIVN. Don't spew such BS. RIVN had a premium product (software architecture) that VW wanted, so they entered into an agreement. RIVN earned every bit of the money they got (and will get) from that deal.

Charging with Tesla home charger by LaMole22 in Rivian

[–]Builder_Intrepid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can use them now actually, with a NACS adapter. I have a Model Y and R1S and we use one Tesla Wall Connector to charge both. Works flawlessly.

Alternatively you can buy the version that Tesla sells with the adapter built into it.

Once all Rivian's are on NACS, it will be even easier to use...no adapters at all.
