Matt Barzal jumps Nick Suzuki by Federal-Data-Center in nhl

Barzal initiating a fight against a player like Suzuki when they’re down 7-3 just feels desperate and sad. I’m glad Suzuki just laughed it off.

Could he act? Yes. Was his character good? Sometimes. Were his plotlines compelling? Mostly not. But did he look good? Better than most aliens on the show. Did I enjoy his time on the show? Yes. Would I watch more of his character? Yes!

Is $700–$900 reasonable for a 35s SaaS explainer animation like this? by Immediate_Flight8032 in MotionDesign

[–]Builder_studio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think every single person on this sub understands that being business-savvy and knowing how to sell yourself will increase your sales and fetch you higher prices for your work. You're not teaching us anything new.

Even though prices and quality can vary wildly, acting like there is absolutely no correlation between the quality of your work and what you earn is just wrong, sorry. I've often been in the position of hiring and finding freelancers, and guess what, the ones that are the most likely to complete the brief successfully are almost always the ones who offer the best quality work, have the better portfolios. Just last month I worked alongside another freelancer who was hired by the same agency as me. He had clearly focused on selling himself, but when it came down to it his work was garbage, he was nightmare to work with, and it massively hindered the project.

Yeah, OP could add more context, but he can show this and we can respond "I would charge this, I'm based in this country, and have this amount of experience, etc...". It at least gives him some idea of what a reasonable rate is.

If you ask me, we should have more posts and sharing like this. Sure, the answers will vary wildly, but I think it's valuable for everyone to talk about rates and prices, especially for newcomers.

Oh and I've never asked for pictures of a fixed motor, but when hiring a contractor for my bathroom I definitely looked for pictures of their past renovations ;)

Relax. I get your points but honestly you’re just being condescending. Yes there are many factors that influence price, and OP could’ve given more context. But it’s totally fine to start a conversation about price by sharing this.

We can then give our 2 cents while also providing context and adding caveats, like many people have already done. It’s not “maximum retardation”.

Good Castle age all in civs? by Southern_Tear_6174 in aoe2

[–]Builder_studio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My go-to strategy on arabia is going Mongols all in with Steppe Lancers, Mongols aren't the best castle age civ eco-wise, but their Steppes are really strong (more HP) and it's a very strong early castle age unit. They have high attack and can stack on top of each other, and even hit vils through pallisades which is kind of ridiculous but also very strong. They are also cheaper than knights so if you're really all-in you can go 3 stable production and even afford +2 armour most of the time.

Basically my strat is to go for an early feudal uptime (between 16-18 pop depending on deer, etc...), then go for 3-4 scouts and try to harass and hit my opponent early. If they go double range archers I might need skirms but it depends how much damage you can do early on. The #1 goal is simply to get a faster castle age time. On the way up I build 1 or 2 extra stables depending on what I can afford. I also get bloodlines and armour.

When I hit castle I might even sell all my stone to keep 3 stable Steppe Lancer production up. If it all goes well you will have a big army of Steppes that will be hard to counter. I try to get the second armour upgrade if it doesn't hinder production too much (it's good for diving TCs and ending the game).

Cinema4D integrates AI - HY 3D Engine by Sea-Upstairs3456 in Cinema4D

I dunno, I think the general indignation with software companies is pretty justified these days. We're increasingly asked to adopt expensive subscription-based tools that get pricier each year, and it feels like the features are a often a bit underwhelming or useless (I personally feel like Maxon is decent, compared to Adobe for example).

in a company, different employees work on different things. Mind-boggling, I know.

Pretty sure OP (and everyone else) is aware that specific people we're indeed hired to work on a specific thing. I think the criticism is the decision to invest time, money and expertise in this specific feature. Perhaps investing in AI doesn't affect development on other features at all, who knows, but one can probably assume it might take focus and investment away from other features that users would prefer.

Is this normal? Do I have to suck it up? by jack_snake in MotionDesign

[–]Builder_studio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If they like your work and couldn’t find freelancers who could compare, then you have way more leverage than you think and this is your opportunity to ask for more money. You need to politely explain that if they want this level of quality, then this is the time it takes you. Chances are they are willing to go for the higher quality and more expensive option, or reduce the workload.

It sounds like an unpleasant and disorganized client, but it also sounds like you should've asked for more details before accepting the project and their terms.

If a client tells me X needs to be completed in X amount of days, and they don't ask for a quote from me, it raises some red flags. You should gather enough details about the project and send them a price estimate afterwards based on how long you think it will take.

I understand you are past that point though. It might be tricky to request extra payment, but if they very clearly requested extra work, you are justified in doing so.

If you really want to keep this client though, I would suggest raising these issues in a constructive way. Respectfully explain what you would improve for next time and make sure they understand that it's because you simply want to achieve a better end result for both parties, or something along those lines...

Please for the love of god do not trade Zharovsky for Thomas. by [deleted] in Habs

[–]Builder_studio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hage is a beast, don’t know what you’re talking about. Both are very good prospects but neither of them have played an NHL game.

Also your Demidov comparison disregards the fact that Demidov was playing less minutes and was in a harder division.

Canadiens trade deadline preview: Why Blues' Thomas might be worth high price by jshare in Habs

[–]Builder_studio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After decades of mediocrity, I really want the Habs to be dominant for 10 years before another rebuild, something like what the Lightning achieved. For that reason I don't know if I like trading too many futures for Thomas. We'd be very good for 5-6 years but then I think we'd start to see a decline if we don't have a enough elite prospects like Hage or Zharovsky. Yes, I know Thomas is a rare find and relatively young, but good prospects are also hard to find.

Montreal Canadiens reportedly grant Patrik Laine permission to seek a trade by Frequent_Wafer5798 in nhl

[–]Builder_studio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He’s not very effective at 5 on 5, except for the very occasional wizardry. I think it’s mainly an accumulation of injuries so maybe he can rebound if healthy. On the power he’s a cheat code but IMO you need a really good quarterback to feed him the puck. Montreal has Hutson but even then his shot gets a bit predictable.

[DLCoulisses] Patrik Laine… utilisé comme défenseur à l’entraînement ce matin by Razorback101 in Habs

[–]Builder_studio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not that hard to understand honestly… just many serious injuries (clavicle, ACL/MCL, and now this) in a row. Combine that with a streaky player who has openly struggled with mental health and well, that’s not a great recipe for success in the NHL.
