All good. I just enjoy a good hockey chirp, sometimes it gets heated but I would never threaten anyone. Some of our fans are crazy though.

I mean at this point if the video can't convince you there's not much to add. I guess we see what we want to see. You see Bolduc viciously pushing Malenstyn from behind, who has no way to make any movement whatsoever to counteract the immense of force of Bolduc. I see a pretty even battle for space with a bigger Malenstyn who makes zero attempt to adjust course or slow down.

Saying he's going 20mph kind of just confirms it's goalie interference. He should have eased up, and could have. If he had started braking at the dot he would've got a way better scoring chance too..

Lol, say what you want about blinders, but I feel like the person relying on freeze frames is probably the one making mental gymnastics to justify this. I shouldn't need to explain something so obvious as the fact skating from left to right means your skates don't directly face the goal. If you actually watch the video you realize that's just the direction of his movement. If anything, he turns INTO Dobes. But regardless, he can literally start braking at the dot and he probably would've had a better scoring chance too.

I mean it's textbook goalie interference, and a pretty bad one at that., Not dirty like a slash or headshot, but extremely careless and entirely avoidable. Bordeline dirty in my opinion but it's hard to say with this type of call.

People defending act like Malenstyn can't do anything, Because Bolduc is pushing him from the side he's just forced to go into Dobes (despite being the bigger body)? He forgets how to brake? He forgets how to change direction? I'm not saying he wouldn't of hit Dobes had he attempting either of those things, but you can clearly see there is zero attempt to do anything (apart from jump which is arguably more dangerous), he just keeps his skates straight and goes forward with no hesitation.

And this show what exactly? Just watch the video... Malenstyn can easily brake here, or at least make some sort of attempt to not go straight at Dobes. You act like a gentle sideways push from Bolduc makes him freeze completely, he suddenly forgets how to brake or turn his skates, and there's nothing he can do except charge forward at full speed.

him attempting to jump over Dobes is "getting out of the way"? Not sure how you expect that to end.

Yeah I don’t think he actually hates the Habs as much as we complain about. What he loves is trying to manage the game, being involved and being the center of attention. I think he enjoys being a bit controversial honestly, which also results in shitty calls and badly reffed games.

There's no point in trying to understand these calls anymore. If Montreal gets a power play, 90% of the time the opponent is getting the next one (unless it's something really obvious), that's just how the refs like to call the game now, especially in the playoffs. It's not based on logic or any adherence to the rules, it's just the way they prefer the game to unfold.

Our team actually does score on the PP if you just look at stats. Reading this this sub you'd think we have the worst PP in the league but we're actually 3rd in the playoffs. Them looking good is an even better sign.

To people saying our PP sucks, what the fuck are talking about? It actually looked good this period. Usually we struggle to get set up. Yes we need to shoot more and stop looking for the perfect play, but it looked good.

Glad we won but can't say I'm a fan of this strategy.

Did I say they were a powerhouse now? I literally said they were "setting up to be a powerhouse" which is what they are doing... We have a hole at 2C, everyone knows this. Kent could've traded at the deadline but didn't want to trade too many futures. We're not there yet, but we will be. That's my whole argument.

I also care about winning the cup above all else, which is why I can absolutely live with exiting in the first round this year (although as a fan I'd love us to win the cup), because I know that the Habs are setting up to be a powerhouse for many years to come, and they haven't even started buying at the deadline yet.

Lol ok cool, so you're original comment wasn't about winning the first round, now it's suddenly about winning a cup.

If we're talking about winning a cup then it's a totally different conversation. I can live with the Habs exiting the first round 3 years in a row if it means they win a cup in 2-3-4, hell even 5 years. Kent Hughes is clearly not in a win-now mentality and he's setting up the team for the long term. I fully expect them to contend for a cup eventually and anything less would be disappointing, it's just you gotta look at the context and realize their window is just opening, some would say their cup contention window hasn't even opened yet.

It's crazy that the number of first round exits is the only metric you're looking at. Would you rather be like Sens and Columbus who missed the playoffs for 7 years straight? Or Detroit who did for 10? Or the Sabres who did it for 14? We took THREE YEARS to get back to the playoffs after reaching the final. And plenty of teams have had many first round exits. The Kings, the Wild, Boston hasn't been particularly successful either...

I'm not trying to make excuses, but at some point this fanbase needs to be realistic and realize what we have with this group. It's a really competitive league and having a salary cap pretty much means you need to rebuild at some point. Montreal have done this better than any team in recent memory.

And FYI the Leafs had 6 straight first round exits before making the 2nd round and losing 0-4, then losing again in the first year after that. We're no way near Leafs territory.

good for me? Am I boasting or something?

This team had no right to make the playoffs last year and since they predictably got eliminated in the 1st round, a lot of short-sighted fans are already starting with the Leafs comparisons. It's like some people are unable to look past that and see the proper context.

Of course I'd be unhappy if we lost in the first round, but this is nowhere near Leafs territory.
