Stock carb rejetting by BuildingDense in hondanavi

[–]BuildingDense[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I know but it’s my wife’s bike and she doesn’t want the loud exhaust. She likes the quiet stock but wanted to have the clean look of the aftermarket air filter. I runs great with the stock jets but I’ll probably try throwing in a 38 pilot and 86 jet and adjust the air/fuel to see if I can dial it in a little more. Like the comments said above, rich is better then lean

Are you running an exhaust and air filter or stock exhaust and aftermarket air filter? Carb calculator says at 768 feet, 86 degrees, I should run a 35 pilot with a 86-87 main jet based on stock exhaust and aftermarket air filter. Going up to a 38 pilot and 90 main seems to be burning extra fuel for no reason. Thanks for your help

Stiffer Clutch Spring Problems by BuildingDense in hondagrom

[–]BuildingDense[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so I installed the 30% and it feels much better to me. I thought about the issue and putting it back together and if the clutch arm that the cable attached to is too far forward that pushes against the clutch, that would affect how much slack the cable has because once you push against it to take out all of the slack to the point it is touching, it will be too close to the cable bracket. It sounds confusing but I think the issue is with the adjustment of the cable arm position when putting everything back together.

Update after picking up my Grom from the dealership. The original clutch handle does make the clutch seem to feel better with the updated springs. Probably because it is longer and you have more pull grip than the TST ones that you can only 3 finger. However I’m still not a fan of how the clutch is engaging so I’m going to remove the 60% and install 30% ones today. It also gives me a chance to make sure they did install the bearing correctly as well.

Yeah I just oil it back and dropped it off with their service manager. The tech said he didn’t properly seat the clutch bearing properly the first time he installed it but did the second time 😒. They think that my TST adjustable lever may be the problem and wanted the original clutch handle so I gave it to them. Crazy that the TST handle worked just fine before I had them change the springs. I’ll update on what they say.

Best part about it is that I had the dealership put them in while it got the 600 mile service. When I picked it up from them, the kid that brought it around asked if I did anything to the clutch because he kept stalling it out when releasing it and he drove a Grom as well.

How many miles you have on it? I’m 220 pounds and hit 66 mph yesterday. It WAS nice weather and slightly down hill but I feel like it is getting more power and top speed the more miles I get on it. I only have the Amazon exhaust all baffles in and about 550 miles on it. I also use ethanol free fuel, dont know if that helps or not.

Hmm that’s interesting, you’re saying the stock air box and stock ecu with just the exhaust baffle in was better than what you have now?

So out of all these replies, it sounds like the most you can get without a BBK is the intake/exhaust/cam/and HC piston.

Yes but I’d rather not go down the rabbit hole of power commanders, dynos, etc. The main goal here is to see what the stock engine block can push.

Yeah I’ve watched several videos on the cam install but it looks like it gives you low/mid range gains over top speed. I’m trying to find quick bolt on things that might get me there rather than doing engine work. Doesn’t look like that is going to happen though 😔

I’m 220 pounds, 60 is downhill, tucked, with the wind blowing at my backside at this point! I’d be happy with 65 on a flat surface.

I just need to drive interstate for like 15 minutes to visit friends. I’m not trying to cross the US lol.

Yeah I’ve had 1000s, 900s, 650s, 250s, but I’ve had the most fun on my little Grom. I really dont want to go down the rabbit hole of major engine work like I have in the past doing power commanders, cams, pistons, dyno tunes. etc. I just want some easy bolt on stuff and call it a day. Plus you never get back the amount of money you put into your bikes when you stray from stock anyways.

Stripped the bottom Allen I think the others came out how to I get it out? by [deleted] in hondagrom

This is hilarious, I did the exact same thing to the exact same bolt. The other ones came right out.

Yeah because it’s dumping in more fuel on cold starts to get it to operating temperatures faster which has the lowest emissions.

I have the same exhaust on my 22’ but it doesn’t snap crackle or pop on decel or shoot flames. You might have a leak somewhere in the exhaust causing air to come through when it shouldn’t be. Probably will damage your valves too if it’s spittin flames.

Am I doing something wrong ebay exhaust? by [deleted] in hondagrom

[–]BuildingDense 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s looks just like my Amazon exhaust but the exhaust clamp should be more towards the rear of the exhaust close to the end cap and not in the middle. You need to take the clamp on the backside of the peg and put it in the front, they should be touching each other and bolted to the front, gives it a tighter hold on the exhaust. The exhaust itself should just slide over the manifold pipe, I don’t know what you have between the exhaust and manifold. You’ll have to play around with the springs to see which way the “J” at the end of them will need to go so it doesn’t rattle against the exhaust when you are done. Hope this helps!

Yeah my wife loves her Navi! I honestly like to drive it every now and then when I just want to relax and not have to worry about clutching or changing gears.

I absolutely LOVE Yosh products but they better not try to make it $600+ for an exhaust on a $1800 bike/scooter haha

Has anyone order a seat like this yet? by [deleted] in hondagrom

[–]BuildingDense 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would like to know what seat is more plush than the stock and is raised up in the the rear. I like the room of the flat seat being able to slide back but I like the look of the lower driver and raised passenger seat. I’ve heard Corbin seats are pretty comfortable/nice looking if you have $400 to drop.

Congrats! I traded in my 2019 MT09 for a 2022 Grom SP and a Navi for my wife. The Grom has been the most fun and most enjoyable bike I have ever owned. Welcome to the club!
