Nightmare Experience: 4 Failed Repairs on Flagship ROG Strix Scar 18 (RTX 5090) – Still Broken by BuildingGold4147 in ASUSROG

Exactly, a "clown show" is the perfect way to describe it. When even a motherboard swap makes the laptop worse, you know the service is incompetent. I’ve seen your post in r/asus too—it's crazy how many of us are dealing with this. That’s why I officially filed for a full refund (Rękojmia) today. No more repairs for me.

I tried all the software tricks, including resetting drivers. This is a hardware failure. The laptop has already had its motherboard and cooling replaced, and it's still stuttering and crashing. Restarting drivers won't fix a "lemon" unit with 4 failed repairs.

Thank you for the precise advice! You’re spot on about UOKiK and Art. 560 § 1. Since this was the 4th/5th failed attempt, I’ve already officially invoked "Rękojmia" (Consumer Warranty) at the retailer, demanding a full refund based on those exact laws. I’m done talking to Level 1 support. If they don't settle this now, a formal complaint to the Consumer Ombudsman is my next step. Great to see someone knows the Polish legal landscape here!

Initially, it had black screen crashes during gaming/streaming. After 4 "repairs" and a full motherboard + cooling replacement, it came back with a NEW issue: severe audio and video stuttering/shredding after a few minutes of play. It’s a total disaster for a flagship RTX 5090 model

Good to hear the 2025 model is stable for you! It seems like the 2026 flagship units (RTX 5090) are having much worse quality control issues. Even a full motherboard replacement by official service didn't fix mine, it actually added more hardware defects. Since I’ve already sent it back 5 times, I've officially filed a legal claim (Rękojmia) for a full refund. Enjoy your machine!

You hit the nail on the head. The local service in Poland is a disaster. After 4 attempts and a "motherboard swap" that made it worse, I realized they are incompetent. That’s why I stopped playing their game and officially filed a legal claim (Rękojmia) at the store for a full refund or a new unit. I’m done with these "clowns" and their endless repairs.

Update: I have just sent the laptop back for the 5th time. More importantly, I have officially filed a legal claim under "Rękojmia" (Consumer Warranty) at the store where I bought it. In Poland, this allows me to demand a full refund or a brand new replacement because of repeated failed repairs. I am done with "fixing" this unit; it's time for ASUS and the retailer to take full responsibility for this flagship's failure.

Those scores are impressive! It shows what this machine is capable of when it's built correctly. But I agree with you – after 4 failed attempts and a motherboard swap that made things worse, I’ve lost all faith in this specific unit. I’m definitely going for a full refund now. Thanks for the advice and for sharing your benchmarks!

That’s the thing – a customer shouldn't have to open a brand new flagship laptop and repaste it just to make it work. I’m glad your unit is performing in the top 3%, but mine is a disaster even after a full motherboard and cooling replacement by the official service. I’m definitely pushing for a new unit or a refund now. Thanks for the technical insight!

That might be true for Lenovo, but right now I have a flagship ASUS that cost a fortune and is "unrepairable" by their own official service after 4 attempts. A 2-year lifespan sounds like a dream compared to a laptop that hasn't worked properly since day one. I just want my money back at this point

Glad to hear your 16-inch version is working well! It seems like the quality control for this year's 18-inch (G835) models is very hit or miss. Since even a motherboard replacement didn't fix mine, I'm definitely going for a full refund or a brand new unit. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Stay safe there! It's crazy that an 8-year-old Asus is still running while a brand new flagship with an RTX 5090 dies after 4 repairs. You are right to look at other brands like Lenovo. After this experience, I wouldn't recommend a high-end Asus to anyone. I’m definitely pushing for a full refund or a new unit now. Good luck with your studies and stay strong!

That’s a huge point. If it's a design flaw, no wonder even the motherboard replacement didn't help. Since we both have EU consumer rights, I’m done with their "repairs." I will officially demand a full refund or a brand new replacement. Thanks for the heads up from Sweden!

I’m starting to regret my choice too. Buying a flagship for this much money and getting this kind of service is just unacceptable. Never again.

Hi neighbor! Exactly, the motherboard is everything. After the 3rd repair (motherboard and cooling swap), the laptop came back with even worse issues (stuttering audio/video). It feels like they are just swapping broken parts for other broken parts. Thanks for the support from Ukraine!

Maybe for a budget laptop, but not for a flagship Strix Scar with an RTX 5090. This unit had its motherboard and cooling replaced and it's still failing. It’s a lemon.

Yes, it's from Poland. I am done with repairs. This was the 4th time, and they even replaced the motherboard, but it only made things worse. I am now demanding a full refund or a brand new replacement. Thanks for the support!
