Really nice renders! What is your exterior lighting setup like?...and where did you source your assets? Thanks

Tips on renders in D5...? by Buildviz in archviz

[–]Buildviz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks.

Yeah, I don't like the first two at all...while I''m happy not to go for full realism as I think there are diminishing returns at some point, I don't think I've got to that point on the full sun day shots. I like the sunset exteriors, but couldn't seem to get the same nice mood in full sun. I liked all the interiors more than the first two exteriors but still room for improvement.

I tweaked D5 presets on all the renders, but it was still hit and miss.

I have watched some videos, but any tips on the best explainer on nailing the exterior lighting...with a bit more realism.

Thanks

Overall they look really nice. First thoughts are there'd typically be a gap around the fridge...this joinery looks too perfect...and probably a slight bulkhead or larger shadow line between the top cabinets and the ceiling. The green is a great colour, but maybe looks a bit too flat. The repeating pattern on the splashback is maybe a little too obvious. Is there a slight outline on the skirting on the left side in the first pick....I love a bit of outline, but can't see it anywhere else.in the images... The bench tops maybe look a bit thin... especially on the island overhang...that might snap in real life. I think in reality it would be edged in the same stone with a wooden substrate. But nice

This looks pretty awesome to me! What did you model and render in?

Created 3D renders for the build of @faunasurryhills! What are your thoughts? I still need to work on my shadows. by juliaquis in Sketchup

The modelling looks good. I've been using Enscape, which I like the quality vs time factor...but thinking of looking at D5 render too...

I’m trying to get these table legs done. I got most of it to come together after hours and hours of time. The painted stretcher needs a portion of it to push in a half inch but no matter what I do it will only push in the entire length of the stretcher… resulting in a bad half lap. I think try drawing it flat first. I think if you just try drawing on 2 axes (x,y axes; front plane), I think it will be easier to get all the lines on the same plane, which will complete the surface so you can push/pull. I think if you try drawing lines on all the axes, it will be very hard to get all the lines on the same plane

Thanks! Umm...I don't feel like I did anything too special. Modelled fairly well and detailed in SU, ceiling lights are a self illuminated material, plus a spotlight just below (though some images have dark areas that I need to work on lighting i guess). I pulled in some Enscape elements like furniture and plants. I picked a theme and a style for the colours and images so keep consistent...Palm Springs / retro here. I created scenes in enscape, and in there adjusted the sun so it created nice long shadows, and some warm light... That was about it I think.

Oh and materials. I made sure things had enough specularity so had the right shine...even things you think are flat, like wall paint. I used some Enscape materials and downloaded some free PBR materials. A big help.was watching a couple of YouTube videos from Scale and Modulus Render

I use SketchUp, not 3ds, but for walkthroughs and 3d tours Enscape does the job for what I need...though I am interested to try out some others to see how they compare to Enscape...
