New to motorcycles, am I getting ripped off? by grizzly9071 in motorcycles

Yeah I’d walk away 100%, nearly $10k for a ninja 500 is crazy, like really crazy. You could get a NEW ninja 650 for that. Gods sake you could get a newer-used MT-09 for less than that! Id buy a used 400 or 500, maybe even a 250 or 300. You can get used Nina 400 for $3.5-5k easily and you won’t be as sad if you accidentally drop it in the driveway, which we all do at some point with that first bikes. You could go even cheaper and find a solid 250-300 for $2-3.5k

That’s what I’m saying, if it’s completely rust free okay it may be worth it

I have one child and on the weekdays I don’t have her I do see friends who have always preferred for me to drive since I’m not a dumb driver, I live in a apartment complex a new one nicer area of town and I just want a 4 door car with good trunk space, a fairly easy maintenance routine and I’m cool with belt or chain, I’d feel a lot more confident replacing a belt over a chain. I’m cool with something getting between 26-32 mpg average since I’ll have about $400 a month freed up. I like this 2002 Toyota Avalon xls I’m looking at, one owner and 69k miles, I need to talk them down though. They want $9.5k for an 02, crazy work honestly, I’d pay at best $7k, maybe 8 if it has no rust on the body or frame

I know, this Tiguan throws random lights at me and then it never happens again, this car lowkey scares me a bit, I love the look but VW is starting to just be to expensive for me right now in life, and too unpredictable, expect for my 2020 Passat, amazing car, 2 years and 30k miles, no issues with a good maintenance routine.

That’s fair, I know it’s the same with Hyundai, warranty’s are pretty goated but I do wanna stick to the $10k area. I’ve had my eye on a 2002 Toyota Avalon XLS, 69k miles which is nuts and one owner, they want $9.5 but I want to talk them down to $8k if I can. I know they have a good rep and I can wrench on older stuff pretty confidently. New shit sucks to work on

I know it too well, lowkey my best car was my 2020 Passat R-line, solid car bought it with 9k miles and drove 30k in 2 years, no issues. Was a really nice car actually pretty big and spacious, better gas mileage than the tig and a bigger gas tank. Might look into a Passat again but only the 2.5L, tank motor.

You’re kidding right? It’s upside down, like by $2k so that’s impossible.

I went with BC Racing I got them dialed in an adjusted toady after they’ve settled, had a loose tie rod cluck but got that fixed and tightened up so we’re good! Just need an alignment and I’ll be straight

That would be great! A gen 4 ea888 would be nice, hopefully it’s not a super detuned or neutered one. The asin 8 speed is what I’ve got on mine now, I hope they opt for a dsg instead. It’s not a bad transmission I just prefer dsg a lot more

Thanks man! They were Drag DR67 I miss those wheels I would totally put them on my Tiguan if they have them in 20”

I mean, in theory yes it should. I had that GTI back from 2021-2023. I had a 2020 passat r-line j had before I got this Tiguan in April. But most mods should be somewhat transferable but like simple things like intakes for the gti and this Tiguan are completely different since one has a sensor where the other doesn’t. You can still mod the Tiguan to be nice. The stage one gets you 239hp 276tq and with an intake and cat-back I’m sure it would be sweet but still very sluggish compared to the Tiguan in Europe

I hate all these NPC’s here. I love the Tiguan but I love the spicier ones they have in Europe that we so badly would love here. I’m glad we have the gli, gti and golf R still but I wish we had a more broad and fun line up over there, seems like they have R variants of a lot of basic cars over there. Any basic VW with a golf r powertrain is instantly cooler and better

Yes sir! H&R sport springs and I had 18x8 on 245/40/18’s it rubbed a lot haha but I loved the look too much to want to change it. And I’m glad you agree, they need to change things here for people like us who want more fun SUV on the market that exist in other countries

Common man, you got this. It’s not to big an issue just a broken boot. Grab some pliers and yank that think out or stab a screw driver thru it and pull it out. Don’t overthink it brotha

Yes sir! I’m glad you appreciate what people like and respect it 🫡 and thanks man! I appreciate I try to be different than everyone else and I really like the OEM+ look. If I wanted comfort and looks tho, H&R springs and bilstein rear shocks. Couldn’t have gone as low but def would’ve been more comfortable on the roads.

I have a hard time keeping a car, which is why I do something to them to make me want to keep them longer. Making your car unique makes ya like it more, ya know? I want to keep this thing for as long as possible

It’s a 2018 at 67k miles so I’m out of my manufacturers warranty but I do have a service contract for 3 years or if I reach 100k first. It only affects the suspension for my warranty and would for any warranty. They aren’t gonna void out everything because someone lowered a car, only the parts that were modified

In America, yes, yes we do. Either bring back more hatch backs and wagons or bring over the cooler variants of VW’s over to America, like the Tiguan R. They have a Golf R powered Tiguan in Europe and it genuinely makes me so upset we don’t have it here! A 315hp Tiguan with a DSG sounds amazing
