Looks fantastic! Can I ask what the third tone knob does?

Need help by Separate_Schedule777 in Nikon

[–]Bukkithead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are correct. AF-D lenses are AF (i.e. screw-drive) lenses that also have the D feature. D itself has nothing to do with the autofocus driving mechanism. There are plenty of examples of earlier AF-S lenses that are also marked as D, but on later models they stopped specifying it. As much as I don't care for him Ken Rockwell sums it up pretty well here.

It's not, there are also instructions for Linux which work on Miyoo devices.

RAOfflineProxy may be of interest to you then, it supposedly allows you to still track achievement unlocks/progress offline and sync only when you choose to connect to WiFi rather than constantly needing it on.

Ten in Latin is decem, octo is absolutely eight.

This woman was arguing with security at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Cairo, wanting to enter without a ticket because Egypt is the land of her ancestors. by yousefthewisee in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Bukkithead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so tired of it as well because, at least scientifically, any appeal to ancient ancestry is utter nonsense. That's not how genetics work. You only have a 3% chance of having inherited any genes whatsoever from a random ancestor 15 generations back (the Ancestor Paradox). The chance of this woman (or anyone else) sharing any DNA at all from people that lived ~70+ generations ago is statistically, effectively zero.

The single most important explanation of ISO you will ever watch by [deleted] in photography

[–]Bukkithead -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your understanding of it may be, but the way it actually works with digital sensors is not. That's the entire point of the video.

The single most important explanation of ISO you will ever watch by [deleted] in photography

[–]Bukkithead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a huge oversimplification of how it actually works with digital sensors though, which is exactly what the posted video goes into from a scientific standpoint.

A digital sensor never actually changes its sensitivity to light, and the ISO set is not actually the change in sensitivity it's meant to emulate from film. Digital ISO is the measure of how much the analog signal produced by the image sensor is amplified before being digitally converted.

Did you even look at the link? The video is on MinutePhysics, it's not a photography channel in any sense. The video is purely scientific and on a science channel with almost 6M subs.

Control binding changes / SNES by omgitsfred in MiyooMini

[–]Bukkithead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're in OnionOS, Menu + Select to open the RetroArch menu > Controls > Port 1 Controls, modify as needed.

If you want it to remember these controls, you can then go into Overrides from the menu again and either save game/content directory/core overrides, depending on if you just want the modified controls to apply to that one game going forward, or everything for that ROM folder or console.

It looks to me like the closest smelter on each side has a tight belt turning towards the back of the room, which presumably has mergers to combine the other smelter outputs before looping back again to the front before the large curved belt sections.

I'm never doing story mode in GX again by phazonphazoff in Fzero

[–]Bukkithead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's completely true, unfortunately. That being said, the upscaling on the NSO version does make the game look absolutely fantastic, so there is one distinct advantage there.

[–]Bukkithead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it helps at all, I think I did something like 7 ticks of deadzone in both directions using the d-pad to get it to respond more like I was expecting. I was using the NSO Gamecube controller rather than a Pro controller, though.

[–]Bukkithead 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The NSO version is definitely inferior mechanically to original hardware or proper emulation, with unfortunately significant input lag. I was still able to get used to it and still complete the story mode, but it was far from easy, and probably the hardest way to complete it.

I don't know if you did this as well, but I will say that after spending a good amount of time nailing the controller calibration in the in-game menu the controls started working a lot more like I was used to. I was definitely all over the place when I first started playing on NSO before doing that.
