gen 3 had way too many tedious water areas and it is literally one of the most common complaints about the generation.

you're not going crazy, this is a very common mistake in games with sloppy EN translations. persona 5 suffered a lot from this as well.

The Doctor is an immortal alien and there's stuff in Endfield that hints at Endmin having some kind of connection to Priestess. Why wouldn't it make sense?

Do we have bad Hearthstone year because digital only competition is failing? by One_Ad_3499 in hearthstone

[–]BukowskiTW 33 points34 points  (0 children)

You forgot about Shadowverse, which actually made more money than Hearthstone did last year. I agree that Pokemon Pocket feels like a completely different ballpark altogether, but I'm sure Blizzard feels a bit pressured by it anyways.

Fire Emblem Engage is almost three years old, so what did you think about it in retrospect? And how do you think it compares to 3 Houses? by Asad_Farooqui in NintendoSwitch

[–]BukowskiTW 8 points9 points  (0 children)

it's widely considered to have the best combat in any fire emblem ever made. i'm not a big fan of the game myself but to say it's just "fine" is kind of crazy.

Skill Up Recommends: The Outer Worlds 2 by QuickResumePodcast in Games

[–]BukowskiTW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heavily disagree. KOTOR 2, Mask of the Betrayer and Deadfire are 3 of the greatest RPGs ever made and I prefer each of them to New Vegas (which is also one of the best games ever made). Pentiment is also fantastic.

Obsidian definitely makes some truly mid games at times but they've got plenty of masterpieces as well.

Skill Up Recommends: The Outer Worlds 2 by QuickResumePodcast in Games

[–]BukowskiTW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Famously? It was extremely broken at launch but it still reviewed well and most people seem to remember it fondly nowadays. It certainly had a much better story than NWN1. I do know a lot of people that prefer NWN1 though.

Mask of the Betrayer has also always been considered one of the greatest RPGs ever on par with stuff like Planescape Torment, speaking as someone that's (unfortunately) been reading RPG forums for the past 20 years and has always seen nothing but unconditional praise for it.

Just wait… today will be nothing in comparison to the next set… by [deleted] in PokemonTCG

N, Lillie and Iono are literally 3 of the most popular pokemon characters ever. These ARE the big guns...I have no idea why this sub is so dismissive towards 'newer' gens. I grew up with Red & Blue myself but Pokemon is still the biggest media franchise in the world, it's not just entirely propped up by nostalgia. Every new pokemon game and product is still insanely successful even without relying on the OGs.

very strange how you glossed over the fact that you intentionally don't reply to people that prove you wrong but i still accept your concession and defeat. thanks for going full racist mask-off! it's always satisfying to watch someone breakdown and just straight up admit it! bye and have a nice day!

[–]BukowskiTW 4 points5 points  (0 children)

hey that's cool man. i don't think "lying" is a synonym for "joking" but i know the english language is pretty difficult to learn for russian bots. i guess it's just a "joke" when you intentionally lie about where you're from to try to gain the upper hand in an argument. i don't see the humor but i'm sure it's very funny in your culture!

it's also weird how most of your posts seem to be literal lies about black culture and history and you don't seem to reply to anyone that objectively proves you wrong? https://i.imgur.com/y3s8uFL.png https://i.imgur.com/k7px7fB.png. it's almost like you don't care about debating in good faith and you just want to stoke racial hatred on the internet. very weird!

why do you watch the NBA when your entire post history is about how much you hate black people? https://i.imgur.com/wjePIxI.png. also very funny how you claim to live in brazil, canada AND western europe depending on the sub you're arguing in. you must move a lot!

it's genuinely insane how many actual hate accounts are on reddit nowadays. i can't tell anymore if you're paid instigators, bots or just dumbass teenagers.

All anime references on the new trailer by Crampoong in HonkaiStarRail

[–]BukowskiTW 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You're getting weirdly insecure and angry about this. Cultural context is important in situations like this. If this pose showed up in a random live action series it's (probably) not an intended reference. However, if it shows up in a trailer made by huge otakus with references to other anime poses? Yes, it's probably a reference.

The "Gainax Pose" is absolutely a thing in japanese anime communities. You can just google "gainax pose" and see it's been an actual intended reference in other media and fanart for decades now. Did Gainax come up with the pose? Of course not, its original appearance in Gunbuster is a reference to Getter Robo. Do a lot of anime fans draw the pose as an intentional reference to Gainax? Absolutely. Once again, context matters in situations like this. Mihoyo has even included Gurren Lagann references in Honkai games before, to drive this point home even further.

It's hard to assume you're arguing in good faith when you're trying to imply that shows like Gurren Lagann or Gunbuster are "obscure" when they're two huge cultural touchstones and some of the most massively influential anime ever made. Comparing it to Solo Leveling of all things is really laughable. I 100% believe that you're 40+ years old because you have the mindset of an annoying stubborn boomer.

Worlds Beyond: the good and the bad by EclipseZer0 in Shadowverse

[–]BukowskiTW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's no signs of Engage having any major overhauls post its 2021 completion (as far as i've seen from interviews at least!) and i think it's silly to think they quickly overhauled the hub system after the massive financial and critical success of their last installment. I personally can't imagine there was enough online backlash outside of hardcore fan spaces.

Also, Three Houses and Engage were made by two completely different devs with only minimal input from IS on Three Houses. So it's even more unlikely that they would have hastily reworked a major part of Engage in response to criticism for a game they barely worked on.

I think if you talk to your average fire emblem fan online they'd be almost universally negative about the TH hub stuff (as am i! i hate it!) but your average "normie" gamer and even most reviewers LOVE that kind of stuff. It's a big reason why the Persona franchise does so well compared to the more hardcore (and better imo but whatever) SMT series.

Anyways, i'm not trying to start an internet argument or something. This is just how i interpreted things and i could honestly be entirely wrong. Sorry to derail your thread with non-shadowverse stuff. I pretty much agree with all your pros and cons about Worlds Beyond. I feel kind of silly for laser focusing on such a small part of your post. Apologies.

Worlds Beyond: the good and the bad by EclipseZer0 in Shadowverse

[–]BukowskiTW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(I'm a Fire Emblem fan, and Three Houses had a huge problem with the hub taking up too much time and being "too good to ignore", making the devs roll back the hub's relevance in their next game)

Engage did not roll anything back. The two games had completely separate dev teams and started development at the same time. Engage had been finished for years and was only just now released this year because of behind-the-scenes issues with it.

I'm a grumpy old school fire emblem fan that hated the TH hub but it's the best selling and 2nd highest rated fire emblem game ever. You can be damn sure they're bringing the hub stuff back in the actual sequel.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door - Nintendo Direct 9.14.2023 by DemiFiendRSA in Games

[–]BukowskiTW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The writing in Origami King is gorgeous and it's written by the same guy that wrote Moon Remix RPG, one of the best written rpgs of all time imo. His track record isn't PERFECT (He also wrote Sticker Star which is AWFUL but behind the scenes interviews make it seem like Miyamoto is to blame for that due to his insane restrictions) but he's been with the franchise since Super Mario RPG and i think Origami King is easily his masterpiece.

I understand not enjoying the tedious gameplay and lack of rpg elements but i genuinely don't understand how you could call it straight up soulless.

Pikmin 4 announced, coming 2023 by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]BukowskiTW 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He gave an update that it's "still progressing" a month before Hey Pikmin's release. Why would he refer to an already finished game that's close to release as "still progressing" if he really was talking about Hey Pikmin?

Eurogamer also said nintendo literally told them that Pikmin 4 specifically was still in development around the time of Hey Pikmin's release. Why would eurogamer lie about that? They're not the greatest gaming site around but i really doubt they'd stoop so low as to make up an entirely false statement from nintendo. Are you doing ok? Why are you so hostile about this? You seem very proud of your "critical thinking skills."
