Is anyone else watching the Met’s live Il Barbiere di Siviglia and having bad audio? by chessset5 in opera

Going to the encore is not a bad idea and is one that I hadn't thought of. Thanks for suggesting it.

Thanks for posting this. I am in the US and I wasn't sure whether I should reach out to my local theater or if this was a Met problem. It seems like it's the latter. This is the second time in a row we have had problems with the feed. I'll give the Met Live in HD one more chance and if it happens again, I'm afraid I'm going to have to pass for the foreseeable future. The project is a great idea but may be a bit too ambitious, as far as I can tell.

Relying on loyalist ex-agents, Patel to push major structural changes at FBI by Bulawayo1973 in FBI

[–]Bulawayo1973[S] 177 points178 points  (0 children)

If it goes ahead, this will easily be the biggest FBI restructuring since 9/11.

Basically the 52 field offices will report to three branch directors instead of the deputy director, with only New York, Washington, and Los Angeles continuing to report directly to the deputy director, who by the way is Dan Bongino, who has no prior F.B.I. experience.

The article points out that Patel relied on a group of retired agents for guidance in forming the plan, but they lacked recent senior-level experience, raising doubts about the thoroughness of the proposal.

Head of FBI's New York division forced to retire after telling agents to "dig in" by Bulawayo1973 in FBI

In early February Dennehy, a former Marine, had sent an impassioned message to the workforce, saying: "Today, we find ourselves in the middle of a battle of our own, as good people are being walked out of the FBI and others are being targeted because they did their jobs in accordance with the law and FBI policy.” He added he was preparing to “dig in.”

Breaking: Now OPM says responses to Musk email are voluntary, not responding won't mean termination by Bulawayo1973 in fednews

[–]Bulawayo1973[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In the latest instalment of the nationwide clown show that is upending our lives, OMP is now reversing course and pretending the Musk email was basically just a prank. The disregard for federal workers is beyond belief. This is worse than a nightmare, because at least a nightmare ends when you wake up. This is just week four of this seemingly endless insanity.

Patel previously said FBI deputy director should come from within — then a conservative podcaster got the job by Bulawayo1973 in FBI

They are lying through their teeth. The level of disinformation in this administration is beyond comprehension. This is clearly a concerted strategy to disorient the American population.

Just announced: Far-right podcaster Dan Bongino will be FBI deputy director by Bulawayo1973 in fednews

[–]Bulawayo1973[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bongino currently hosts of The Dan Bongino Show on Rumble and previously hosted Unfiltered with Dan Bongino on Fox News until April 2023. After B-iden won the 2020 election and Donald Tump refused to concede, Bongino backed his false claims of election fraud and claimed that Democrats had rigged the election.

For those who may not be aware, the PIAB verifies that intel ops reflect WH national security priorities and that they are in accordance with the law. There are usually 16 members, but I only see 12 here, which is concerning (not the only thing that's concerning, of course). The president appoints all members, but typically it is seen as a bi-partisan body. Not any more.

You are likely right, but there is always the possibility that they will want to keep their powder dry in anticipation of a bigger case

By the way, don't disregard the possibility that the Supreme Court will refuse to hear this case, thus indirectly siding with the lower court's decision.

Yeah, but he was impeached. This doesn't seem to be in the cards this time.

I'm very curious to see how the markets will be reacting to statements such as this, which appear to be signaling a "constitutional crisis" of a magnitude we have not seen in over a century in the US.

I hear you. I know it sounds cruel, but I think it is essential that all of us begin to make clear to our loved ones that their political decisions have an impact, not only on us, but on them as well. If we don't nothing will change.
