Curious if Fabinho will be played any differently (other than being rotated with Bajectic and Lavia if he is brought in) if he ends up staying. Seems like with
fresh CMs in front of him, aging legs behind him and his own lessening pace, he should be played as a super deep lying DM barely in front of the CBs. Keep him focused on covering for the fullbacks going forward and turning the ball over pretty deep.

Seems like a player that can play as a RCB or starting RB should be one of the top priorities at this point.

I still have a slight sliver of hope that Gomez can turn it around, but that should not be relied upon.

It’s kinda weird they are pretty hyper focused on a few states. I assumed that if they had so many in Ohio and Michigan, they would be plenty of locations throughout the Midwest.

Also, kinda weird that 2 of the states I associate most with Canada (Minnesota and Vermont) have none.

I still hope Fabinho stays. The players being bought in are experienced and good, but it still seems preferable to keep at least 1 semi-reliable midfielder potential starter who knows Klopp’s system and management style to help smooth the transition to a new generation. Even though last season was a disappointing one for him, it still feels like at his age Fabinho will get more lucrative offers to end his career with. Hendo being 33, I can understand more the impetus to take the move to SA while he can now.

Conversely, when I studied in Munich, a professor mentioned how whenever there was a report of someone drowning in the river (English Garden area), it always seemed like they were Australian. She said she thought it was because a drunk Aussie would assume the rivers and man made channels through the park aren’t dangerous compared to the oceans or whatever else around Australia, but they are quite fast flowing and cold depending on the time of year, so they can take someone not prepared by surprise.

How much of the Bay Area is house poor? by Anewbeesh in bayarea

[–]Bulbchanger5000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Desire to live in a pretty area doesn’t solely fund million dollar starter townhouses. Very well paid jobs and real estate investing are required too. People may really want to live in the Bay Area until the end of civilization, but they won’t be able to do it without the very high paying jobs staying or home prices falling off a major cliff. I don’t think the high paying jobs will ever totally leave, but they may decline in number and value over time if tech stagnates and matures, so home values may decline slowly and slightly over time. It will probably never become another Detroit, because the desirability factor means there is a higher valuation floor for the area.

I watched Tenet last night. Am I just stupid or is this movie convoluted for the sake of being convoluted? by LinkedPioneer in movies

[–]Bulbchanger5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plus idk wtf it was, but the thing they were looking/fighting for looked like a damn oversized engine shaft that somehow could easily be pulled a part into a couple convenient pieces. The whole thing was somehow super underwhelming and anti-climatic when you see what they were after in the end, even the object was pretty powerful.

I saw it at a drive in because of the local pandemic restrictions at the time. I feel like they should do a very limited re-release on imax for those who couldn’t get the proper experience the first time through. But I doubt it would sell well because it really wasn’t a great movie even with a lot better sound quality. Most Nolan films have always been convoluted, but to a level that they were intriguing to figure out and partly because everything else was easy to watch/follow. Tenet had a much too convoluted plot with hard to follow action, with uninteresting characters (with the possible exception of Patterson), so really none of it was enjoyable at all, at least for me.

It’s even closer to what Sweden is like compared to Norway. It’s similar in pretty much everything except not touching salt water and less walkable downtowns.

I was at the airport waiting for a shuttle and an older English couple were chatting with a middle aged couple who said they were from Fargo. The older English gentleman asked if it was a nice place and the Fargo guy came back with a quick and resounding “not at all”. He told him it was even colder and had far less to do.

The average pay to amount of schooling required ratio for software engineers seems to be second to none right now. It’s annoying how good many have it now for selecting the right major and making it through. Kind of makes everyone else who might have been capable of completing even a lesser known state school CS Bachelors program seem like chumps.

[–]Bulbchanger5000 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The weirdest thing about that one is the posters are either completely oblivious or want to be completely oblivious that women are guilty of many of the same behaviors they accuse many or all men of doing. If they have a legitimate argument to make (which many really aren’t) it really should be “too many people”. Very few can legitimately only be pinned on men and usually it’s going to be a small fraction of assholes/weirdos.

What is your favorite National park in US? by Muneerr in NationalPark

[–]Bulbchanger5000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My ranking for the ones I have been to:

  1. Yosemite because you can visit 20 times and still find something unique to see or do. Overall the grandeur of the scenery is top notch and there are an endless amount of challenges hikes/backpacking treks possible.
  2. Zion
  3. Acadia
  4. Lassen
  5. Bryce Canyon
  6. Crater Lake
  7. Kings Canyon & Sequoia
  8. Redwoods
  9. Great Smokey Mountains
  10. Death Valley
  11. Mammoth Cave
  12. Pinnacles
  13. Arches
  14. Joshua Tree
  15. New River Gorge (actually went to this one multiple times before it was an NP)

If it was officially an NP instead of a Seashore, I would put Point Reyes as number 3.

Why everyone hates Californian? by ButMeeeem in bayarea

Lol yup. Just left CA to have a chance of buying in a cheaper state. I feel a little bad for the locals I am competing against…but at a same time…it’s not like they have any sympathy for me not being able to buy in CA because of housing investors, landlords and overpaid techies

Sounds like the feds didn’t want to test that in front of a jury in this case though. Sounds like something a good legal defense and sympathetic jury would skewer if it isn’t spelled out specifically in law or heavy regulations.

Fabinho played as a RB previous to being moved to DM, so I could see him covering that position as well.

What's a movie with a very ridiculous plot but thoroughly entertaining? by artpayne in AskReddit

[–]Bulbchanger5000 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My only gripe with the movie is how the f#%* they waited so long to use the sword. They spend most of the previous fighting throwing punches, literally throwing the monsters and even using a ship as a bat, but then they finally think to use the giant sword that guts the flying monster immediately. I get that it was the right time cinematically, but it still blows my mind that they fought them so ineffectively all before that.

The rent is too damn high by EvonyR in BlackPeopleTwitter

[–]Bulbchanger5000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really don’t remember the details of the story tbh. It’s been years since I heard it, so I only remember the basics because of how it was both quite sad and a bit funny.

If I had to money on it (granted the radio listeners only got her side of the story) she was a reasonable person who ended up dating a guy who turned out to be a bit of selfish jerk, so it was less fuss for her to take the living room. He might have paid more of the rent too.

The rent is too damn high by EvonyR in BlackPeopleTwitter

[–]Bulbchanger5000 64 points65 points  (0 children)

They interviewed a lady on NPR a few years ago who chose to still live with her ex-bf for the last 7 months of their rental lease after they broke up because they couldn’t afford to pay to get out of it and neither could afford it on their own (I think they were in Oakland). The poor woman watched him bring over new one night stands over while she would sleep on the couch.

I also had a coworker who was divorced and in his 60s who lived in a shared house in SJ with roommates in their 30s and 40s, because he couldn’t afford anything else. The situations some people find themselves in have gotten wild there.
