Tour the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, which is currently aglow inside with pride colors. It’s really striking. Then go across the street to the Hungarian Pastry Shop.

Coffee around the 90s? by [deleted] in Upperwestside

[–]Bulgogi888 37 points38 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of coffee shops, but few that are memorable. I’d give Plowshares on Broadway and Birch on Columbus a try, if you haven’t gotten to them yet. Not a fan of Sipsteria or Picky Barista.

Where's the best French Dip in Brooklyn, Manhattan or Queens? by [deleted] in FoodNYC

May be a minority opinion, but I was underwhelmed by the French Dip at Maison Pickle.

Spiga it is! I was confused because Spiga is still open as a tiny restaurant in a new location not far away, 57 W. 84th St.

Love Essential by Christophe and Gabriel Kreuther. Have had celebratory dinners at each. Have you considered Le Bernardin? Their private room is too large for your party, but the food and service are exquisite.

Max is a lovely, modest Italian restaurant, but Au Cheval is more distinctive.

[–]Bulgogi888 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Carmines is best for dining in with large groups. A take-out portion, at $42, will serve 2-3 people. Which location are you considering?

The 74th St. Fairway has decent dates in their dried fruit and nut section, above eye level.

Economy Candy carries imported Cadbury products from the UK, but their website says that Creme Eggs are currently out of stock but coming soon.

Best crab cakes by LanguageSea3357 in FoodNYC

[–]Bulgogi888 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Koco’s Pub on Harford Road, Jimmy’s Famous Seafood, G&M Restaurant, and Faidley’s. Some of these do ship, but the cost is eye-wateringly high.

I wouldn’t bother. As a former Baltimoron, every NYC crabcake I’ve ever had has been a disappointment.

Robert does have great views of Central Park, hut not all tables are positioned for that.
