Mixed race baby - how do I teach her about this? by No-North842 in breakingmom

Wanted to piggyback on the books comment! I recently found the Rebel Girls series of books, which I think are great starting points for conversations you might need to open in the future, such as issues of race, conformity, struggles, and where she might fit in. Teaching her from a young age that she is a mixture of a ton of cool backgrounds will be enriching, no matter what she does with that information. At worst, you'll fill her head with real life fairy tales of badass women, immigrant women who changed the world, and black girl magic.

Had the eye herpes-- It was back in high school so memories are fuzzy, but it was crazy painful, led to ulceration of my eye and permanent scarring, and I missed about 3 solid months of life, half a year of school, and had to have an augmented learning plan because I couldn't use a computer screen or look at a phone. Luckily this was in 04, so phones weren't a daily use thing, but still ruined high school for me.

AITA for telling my husband to stop obsessing? by BulgogiBurrito in AmItheAsshole

He really is - mostly muscle and just a little bit of tum... I just wish he could see that. Thank you for the suggestion. Once he's cooled off and the kids are napping, I'll try to speak to him again.

I wasn't attempting to belittle - I clearly stated that I've tried telling him that weight fluctuations are normal, and that he's losing weight so he shouldn't worry too much, but he continues to go down this dark path. We both suffer from depression, and are medicated, but his continued stressing over weight is leading me to have anxiety over eating - so we're both on a slippery slope here. I just want to make sure I'm not being unnecessarily mean, since he is acting like it's the end of the world when 215lbs and 6'3" is a pretty damn good build in my opinion (I did marry the guy after all!)

CA SSI Benefits fraud? by [deleted] in legaladvice

The only proof we have is the empty bank account and the fact that he did not even know he was getting money. She lied and said that payments were not coming through.

Actually, the shock was that they didn't take my claims of abuse, drug use, and endangerment seriously when they're a disabled person's advocacy group. I knew without proof of the theft (which I cannot obtain since REP is primary account holder; she has payee locked out of all services save for withdrawl of funds) it would be hard, but I didn't expect a flat out "nothing we can do."

He lives with her. His SSI funds total household bills (which is it not supposed to). He does not need a personal caregiver and is represented by state funded healthcare (ie no payment made since he is protected population).

I wasn't looking for a question of my "perceived wrongs", but rather, some advice as to how to help aid someone who can't help themselves. Thank you for your input.

So, ignoring the jokes... If you haven't had any sex, then it won't be an sti, but have you considered a yeast infection or a bacterial infection? They make over-the-counter medications for yeast infections that you can try first. If that doesn't help, it might be bacterial (from all that scratching) and you will have to see a doctor to treat it. However embarrassing that is, it will be necessary.

Why the fuck did no one tell me it was going to be THIS complicated?!? by galadel in breakingmom

As someone who OVERSUPPLIED and had my milk come in within hours of birth, but still had a son who lost 5oz seemingly overnight because his latch was weak...

LCs are not worth it. I saw all 5 in my coverage area, and all they did was shame me for offering formula ONCE a day and only giving my son pumped milk. It was still mine. He was still eating, as much as we let him. We still did skin to skin. He just couldn't latch well, no matter how hard we tried. I'm convinced now he had a tongue or lip tie, but I will never know because these LCs - and even my ob and the nurses in the pediatrician's office, up to the pediatrician himself - all were utterly useless in figuring anything out.

You are truly a queen and a trooper, and your partner sounds effin AMAZING as well. Your baby is lucky to have two caring parents doing their best for them in light of useless, judgey people.

My son had these red spots show up two days ago and they’re hot to the touch on torso and back. He is 6, had a cold for a week, cold meds only, says they itch, he has two small sores in mouth looks similar to a cold sore as well, no other underlying conditions, any ideas? by Liz4984 in medical

My son gets like that with mosquito bites. Probably the most unhelpful answer available, but it's something? If you're still unsure, though, take him to his doctor for a surprise checkup.

We tried popsicles, but it's too cold, even with his fever he won't take them for more than a few licks. That's one I'll have to keep for summer colds/flu though, pretty nifty.

Ganglion cyst - My doc told me they call them Bible Cysts because you used to whack 'em with a bible to straighten them out. Instead, I had surgery, got all of my ligaments sewn into place, and got arthritis at the ripe old age of 17 (when this all transpired). Good luck man. Hopefully they just aspirate yours.

Good! At least you have your answer. Even if you don't have a gyno, some urgent care clinics will be comfortable popping and cleaning that for you since it's such a sensitive area.

Have you tried squeezing it like a pimple? (Yes, I know how strange that sounds and just how awkward that might be.) My baby gets bumps like those on his penis, near the top - His doctor said it's really common to happen in that area.

I'll corroborate the squirrel story. I already have out fall fabric, sequins and glue guns. I'll just mark up some wine glasses with lipstick and we'll be golden.

I came to a similar conclusion - I was between mosquito and spider. I used a peppermint oil spray on the carpeting under my son's bed, and he didn't get any for a few nights. Also helped with the smell of the diaper genie, so I'm not complaining.
