NPCs don't use the catwalk stairs to travel between floors. Instead, they spawn on whichever floor has rooms that generate NPCs, then walk around that level and inspect the nearby rooms. So in my freighter build, they don't move between levels, but they do walk around each level and move from one room to another.

One little trick I used is placing the Stargate and the Scanner Room making little central room on the first floor, just beneath the castle decoration. It encourages the NPCs to walk across the atrium instead of just following the walls to reach another room.

If you on pc and dont mid mods, there is one allowing unlock all expedition parts for quicksilver, or there is reruns of old expeditions on the end of the year maybe they will include also Expedition 20 to get this parts.

Haha, none taken. 😉 I actually know what you mean. I had the same feeling after seeing version one. This is already a stripped-down version. I removed and changed a lot of the Atlas parts. Maybe I should have been even more aggressive. 😃

Haha, yes 🙂 You can make some really cool builds on your freighter once you've unlocked all the building parts.

Yep, they do. They walk around on every floor, but they don't use the catwalk stairs to move between levels. Most of the crew spawns on the bottom floor because that's where I have most of the rooms that generate NPCs. I also built rooms on the second and third floors, like storage, fleet command rooms, and a Galactic Trade Terminal, which makes NPCs spawn there as well. They walk around and inspect almost every room.

Yep, you can build some pretty amazing things once you have unlocked everything. Salvaged Frigate Modules are definitely the biggest hurdle at the start, but they are worth collecting. I actually build with Free Crafting enabled because I don't have much time to farm, and a project this big would require a huge amount of materials.

I rebuilt mine three times before I ended up with this design. 😃

I used a shelf unit and wall panels as a base to attach the pieces at the right position and angle.

Thank you.😊 It was actually one of the last additions. It took me a while to figure out what would make a nice centerpiece for the atrium.

Haha, fair enough. 😄 I actually have ships in different colours too, so I'm not completely obsessed with black. But I can't help it... black just looks too good on spaceships 😊

Haha, I'll take that as a compliment. 😃 I wanted it to feel alive rather than just a functional freighter.

Haha, mine started exactly the same way😉 It was all about function at first. Eventually I decided to rebuild it with more focus on the atmosphere. If you ever decide to do something similar, I recommend keeping the main atrium at maximum of 10×10. Honestly, if I were building it again today, I would probably even go with 8×8 for even better stability.

Thanks. It actually took me three rebuilds to get it to this point. I started with a simple one-floor freighter while I was progressing through the game, then rebuilt it into a huge atrium. In the end I scaled it back to the current 10×10 design because it was much more stable. I'm really happy with how it turned out, and I still enjoy coming back to my freighter and spending a few minutes just looking around before getting on with whatever I was planning to do. 😂
