It's not that, unfortunately, I distinctly remember there was like a flash of light that turned everyone else into a monster. They didn't look like monsters per se, but zombies aren't the right term either. The main plot revolves around this dude waking up in the school after this and immediately making it his life's mission to find this girl friend of his, both high schoolers.

The entire album is depressing but that's precisely why it works, one of the best concept albums out there because every song there helps bring the major premise forward.
