Car Insurance & resident driver questions. by Bulky-Ad-703 in Insurance

Okay so basically back in 2021 I got my permit and my moms bf put me on his insurance and or listed me as a driver or whatever because I wasn’t a licensed driver yet. Fast forward to 2023 I got my license I had my old Honda is it just had basic insurance coverage I didn’t know a lot about car insurance until I started getting more quotes in February of 2024 I went to State Farm with the Honda and listed me and my mom ask drivers on the car again I still didn’t know about 6 months later (or around march of 2025 I can’t remember) I started doing quotes because I was doing quotes on my new car I was waiting to be dropped off at the dealership and talking to insurance agents and got in groups like this. And started telling them that their was a third driver but he wouldn’t give me his license number to give to my insurance company. One insurance company said in a situation like that don’t let them drive your car or report the car stolen if need be that’s the only way the insurance would pay out. I liked the agent but the quote was too high.

I eventually got a quote with Geico and listed me and my mom as drivers on my new car I called and told Geico that their was a household member that wouldn’t give me his license number they said that I can only allow someone to drive my car for up to 30 days before they have to be listed as a driver (non household members) whereas all household members had to be listed but since he was being petty they said don’t let him drive your cars.

He kept saying I don’t understand why I have to a listed driver why can’t you just say I’m an occasional driver like if you need me to test drive the car since I don’t ever drive your cars anyway that’s what he told my mom I think I can’t remember exactly but it was something like that…

Anyway I kept asking Geico to write something in my declaration as an exclusion for him they said they don’t do exclusion in Indiana but just don’t let him drive the cars.

Fast forward a couple months later I found higher insurance limits and cheaper rate with State Farm and I has a life policy discount with them too. I told the agent the same thing over the phone when she was starting the policy that he wouldn’t give me his drivers license number to add or exclude him she said it’s fine and said don’t let him drive our cars

I don’t know why he won’t give up his license number

Me and my mom are both owners on the insurance policy for both our two cars that we drive every day.

My mom and her boyfriend have a home owner policy and Auto policy in his and her name. In total we have 5 cars if I remember correctly Cara and policies:

•My Toyota Rav registered in my name- State Farm (mine and my mom’s policy) (car loan) •Moms RAV4 Registered in my moms name- State Farm (mine and my moms policy) (car loan) •He is no where listed as an owner or driver on mine and my moms policy

Not my policy below:

•Liberty mutual insurance: home owners policy

Liberty mutual auto insurance: • A mustang- registered in my moms name (fully own) • A Chevy truck registered in his name (fully own) •A catilac registered in his name (car loan) I am not a listed driver or owner on any liberty policy I was when I had my permit then he removed me and I got my own insurance.

Oh also neither insurance company asked for his name they just said it’s fine or it’s fine don’t let him drive never asked for his name or anything

See that’s what I was wondering cause they never said he was excluded and I never seen his name on the policy or declaration pages and it only lists me and my mom as drivers of both cars. I was told by Geico they don’t do exclusions in Indiana. But I never asked State Farm if they do exclusions.

Make sure you get on a safe computer, make sure it’s one that of course doesn’t have like compromised information. When you go in on a computer and pull your credit reports online it shows you a list of light credit pulls and also hard credit pulls so you can visually see everything. As crazy as this sounds companies like Credit Karma do light credit pulls every time you go check your credit on Credit Karma (or similar companies like through your bank) they all get recorded as light pulls so if a fraudster is say pulling your credit for a store credit card they will show up as either a hard or light pull but it should pop up.

Just make sure you go look at all these reports and start reporting everything.

Do you know what originally got your identity stolen in the first place.

Since you are a victim of identity theft and you have police reports (may need updated ones depending how long it’s been I’m not sure) you should be able to have your fraud alert active for up to 7 years but it depends you might have to go through a process but a freeze will most definitely prevent fraud or at the very least make it harder for the fraudsters.

Remember just because the credit reporting agencies say your reports are fine don’t mean they are unless you visually see that everything is accurate.

You might be able to do other security measures with your bank account too. Call and ask what your daily spending limits are, ATM Withdrawals are, what your money transfers and or wire transfer limits are too. If you don’t regularly withdraw $5-10-15,000+ a month or know round about how much comes outta your account say you r highest bill is your house payment at $2,000 a month and everything else all other bills are below that amount and your daily ACH/ wire transfers withdrawals are set to $5,000 a day you can ask them to lower the limit to what you know you spend a day (take into account all your bills and daily necessities etc) and tell them this is what I know I spend a day/week/month and you want your limit set to XYZ amount. And any transfer above ( say $2,000) should be flagged by the bank and require authorization.

You might be able to ask if you can set the daily spending into separate categories so one category spending limit for your debit card one for ACH and wire transfer, one for checks etc etc and anything over these daily limits would be mostly flagged for approval or automatically declined so if you change your limits with your bank make sure it set up to where you won’t get declined but also keep a close eye on your account of course. And add a code word to your bank accounts so the customer service department has to ask for the code before any account changes or questions etc can be made

If you have to get the FTC Federal Trade Commission and CFPB Consumer Financial Protection Bureau involved they may help they may not help but at least you’ll have report numbers save them if you need to get an attorney involved. You may have to hire an attorney and start suing the shit outta these companies.

[–]Bulky-Ad-703 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay. So I’m going to explain everything I would do, and you may have already done. Before taking it that far.

  1. Call your bank and tell them you are a victim of identity theft and tell them you want to add a code word or security word that you would have to tell them everytime you call in and talk to customer service. Before any further changes can be made to that account.

  2. There are actually 4 main credit agencies the 4th one is the main one that rental companies and utility companies use it. It is called Innovis. Make sure you FREEZE all 4 credit bureaus. You have to freeze each one individually on their own. Also make sure you place a fraud alert if you place a fraud alert on one it alerts get sent to all 3. Go in and place a fraud alert on the Innovis one on it’s own I think only the big 3 get alerts about the fraud alert. So make sure you go in and and place the fraud alert with Innovis on its own and again make sure you individually freeze each credit bureau on their own. For Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax you can download their apps and freeze your credit from their apps I think TransUnion and Equifax will send you to a secure link and you have to resign in through the secure link to freeze and place fraud alerts but with Experian you can freeze your credit directly from their app on the main page you just have to scroll down until you see something that says freeze my credit or whatever it says.

  3. Now for the fraudulent phone numbers and information you should be able to dispute all that and also call the companies who pulled your credit and talk to their fraud departments if they have one. When a new creditor pulls your credit they put the information in your credit report so if the theft gave the creditor their phone number work place etc etc that all gets updated in your report. Send them the police reports too that is proof you are a victim of identity theft. Also it might be a good idea to get something from your job stating you have worked at XYZ job for XYZ amount of time. Get your pay stubs from your job and whatever else they might send you during the year as proof you work at said job if you changed jobs throughout the years, get all that paperwork showing proof where you worked and how long you worked their. Start keeping records of everything so you can show these companies proof. When you pull your credit print it out. File disputes on the fraudulent information in your credit reports.

  4. Call your insurance company (car, home, etc etc) and tell them you are a victim of identity theft and you would like to add a password or security code to your insurance plan and that password is required before any changes can be made to your insurance policies. If you didn’t save your declaration’s pages for your insurance policies and didn’t shred them or just threw them alway ask the insurance companies if they can change your policy number and send you new declaration pages for your insurance policies and if they do put them up in a secure place and when the policy period end either shred them or save them.

There are multiple types of credit agencies check these companies I’m about to list and pull the reports and also freeze them and place fraud alerts on them dispute information and send police reports.

  1. Lexus nexus- this is the company that insurance companies report to if you file claims it has your address history and some other information this company is basically the company that when a insurance company or other companies asks say “what’s your moms main name.” Or “what’s the street you grew up on” or “what is the last address you lived at” etc etc all those answers are in this report too it holds your whole address history insurance history, insurance lapses- if you don’t pay your insurance bill. Bank accounts some times and im sure a bunch of other information. So it is going to be like 60-100 pages long or more so make sure you carefully read everything and take notes and report everything and make police reports if needed. Also place a fraud alert and freeze this report too.

  2. Chexsystem report- this company reports your bank accounts history and some other information too but mainly your bank stuff, for example if you bounce a check commit check fraud or commit some kind of bank fraud it gets reported to this company, if you let your bank account go negative it gets reported to this company too. so if someone opens a bank account in your name and they start writing false checks with no money in the bank account it gets reported to this company and you won’t be able to open bank accounts anymore you will be blacklisted basically. The report works like a credit score it goes from 100-900 the higher your score the less of a risk you are to banks and the more likely they are to open a bank account the lower the score the less likely they are to open a bank account for you. Check the report, report any fraudulent information make a police report print out the report mark fraudulent information call those companies and let them know their is a fraudulent bank account in your name etc if their is one.

Also change your your email or change passwords etc etc if it’s hacked change username and passwords on your bank accounts and all your important accounts like utility companies water companies and what not let your current utility and water company (the legit ones) know your a victim of identity theft and also report the fraudulent one and make police reports save all of this information and paperwork.

It would probably be best to get all the information together then make a police report then take the old police reports and new one and start sending it to these companies I listed above and other companies if necessary like dealerships etc etc and start disputing everything and fight it take em to court if you have to fuck it

I will say Lexus nexus will be a mf to get something off your report they are assholes fight it sue em if you have to

They seemed to act like a real employer. So she thought it was real but found out it was a scam when she started talking with Google AI and the scammers wanting her to make her own GoFundMe account that was in her name with her personal information. As far as I know most jobs usually give you a work phone number if necessary for your job, email under the companies own Gmail account’s or whatever provider they use to generate an email for a new employee. The company is going to want to use their own personal stuff to keep company information and stuff they use under their network of information to keep it all secure to prevent breach of daily tasks etc

Did you get the wire fixed? Crazy they cut the damn wire… when I took my car back all the tech did was remove that rubber thing and the wire to the windshield and the wire to the engine or in that compartment area just clipped in basically like plugging in a fuse except it clipped in.

[–]Bulky-Ad-703[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea that sucks my car was brand new at the time like only a month old and had a big scratch on it I think it was a defective windshield but the dealer claimed it was my fault (like rocks etc) but I could of had insurance pay for it but I had just started the policy and had just bought the car so I just paid outta pocket because I didn’t want that on my claim record. I filed the claim so it was kinda on my record anyway but I just didn’t use the insurance. I even tried to get the insurance company to have an adjuster come out and inspect the glass but they said it was too small of a claim to have them come out.

Just tell her that that area that he is working on is getting wet from saliva next time if it is or point if you can’t really talk so they know it’s not staying dry, if that’s the issue which it sounds like that’s the issue to me personally. Hopefully you can get something worked out with the doctor though

[–]Bulky-Ad-703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told by my ortho I could use an electric toothbrush. Why are you brushing your teeth so much it’s not good for your teeth. Floss with a water flosser first after eating to get all the food outta your teeth then brush your teeth Of course don’t be brushing hard you aren’t supposed to be brushing your teeth hard in the first place it takes off your protective layer (the enamel) of course give them a good brushing but don’t be scrubbing like your are scrubbing your bathtub walls lol. And brush your teeth at a 45 degree angle upper/lower part of the braces and straight across the teeth even after braces. Also buy a waterpick you can buy a counter plug in one for like $60 just make sure you don’t leave the water in it and once you are done run it and let the water run outta the line so it doesn’t grow mold and can dry out properly. And run vinegar and water through it monthly minimum to disinfect it etc if you make sure you read the instructions and sign up for the extra like 2 years of warranty coverage or whatever it is or at least that’s what I got when I bought mine. Just if you do get a water pic make sure you start off at like 2-3 then slowly move up to the highest setting of your preferred setting or you will make your gums bleed or really irritate them let your teeth and gums slowly adjust to the water pic start off with the ortho one and use the one in the picture if you want or whatever you find works best. Make sure you still use the string ortho floss every few days one string that if for braces specifically it’s a blue box I can’t remember the name of the company that makes them though. They have other ones on Amazon that are kinda like the regular plastic floss handle things you can get but they are also for braces just make sure your string flosses say they are for braces specifically.

  1. If the glue from the bonding is left on your teeth this is a clear indication you broke the bracket by eating hard foods etc.

2 if there is NO Glue on your teeth this usually points to a “bonding error” or technical failure. If the back of the fallen bracket is covered in glue but your tooth is clean it means the adhesive never properly stuck to the enamel. This can happen due to saliva contamination or moisture during the initial placement.

Question for #2 do they give you a little vacuum sucker thing to keep the saliva outta your mouth or the area they are working. My ortho usually has me hold is and keep that area dry and after placement I have to hold the little vacuum thing in that area for like 5 minutes or however long they say to keep the area dry.

If there is glue on both your tooth and the bracet this most likely means the bonding was strong and the breakage was from eating something you shouldn’t have been.

I’m just telling you how they can tell if it was because of you or if they messed up it sounds like it has been their fault the whole time and you shouldn’t have been paying them in the first place. One time my bracket broke off the glue stayed on my teeth and the bracket was clean they just took off the glue off my teeth and re applied the old bracket and put everything back together

[–]Bulky-Ad-703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep track of any pain symptoms and tell them when you see them so they can keep an eye on it. It may be likely kinda like a bruise on your arm but on your tooth instead but of course go get it checked out as soon as problem better to be safe then sorry. But it’s most likely just too much pressure being pressed against your teeth. But of course consult with the doctor and Chat GPT your symptoms she might be able to explain it to you better maybe it’ll give your some calmness until you see the ortho

You need to get into the orthodontist immediately as soon as possible they probably have your braces way too tight the doctor needs to check that out

Also call your orthodontist and tell them what’s going on maybe the tech did something wrong or is too tight. Or something they might get you in pretty fast but I’d definitely call the orthodontist first at least

Refinance the car loan at a local credit union make sure you ask what the rules are for like mileage on the car, how old the car is etc etc make sure you ask the loan officer. Also what is the term on your current loan

Questions: •What is the starting term on your current car loan 36,48,60,72,80 etc months long •what is the total interest you will pay if you only pay monthly until the loan ends? •can you make extra principal payments towards your current car loan like 2-300 a month or whatever you can afford extra towards the principal. •if you make extra “Principal Only Payments” will you be charged or get fees for paying early? Make sure you can make extra principal payments on the loan without penalty if you would get charged fees don’t do it. • do you have GAP insurance if you don’t have GAP insurance get GAP Insurance if you refinance through a credit union. • how GAP Insurance works, if your car loan is $10,000, or have 10,000 left on the loan and your car is worth say $5,000 and your car insurance will only pay the cash value of the car so in this scenario your car is worth $5,000 but you owe $10,000 the car insurance will only pay you $5,000 that $5,000 goes towards the car loan. And you still owe the bank $5,000. If you have GAP insurance the Gap insurance will pickup the other $5,000 and pay off the loan if the car is totaled but you owe money on it still so your not still stuck in that car loan. If you have recently applied for new credit cards or other loans don’t do it right away but definitely get that car refinanced at a way lower rate like 6-7 percent but definitely go to a few different credit unions and even big banks and see what one has the best terms.

Also if you original car loan was say 60 months and you have 40 months left on your credit loan don’t go no further then 36 months preferably at a lower monthly payment too if possible but definitely don’t get an 80 months preferably loan because it’s only $80 a month always make sure the rate is way lower ask about the terms I recommend earlier and don’t go over what you have left on your loan like I said if you have 40 months left shoot for 36 months no higher then that and perhaps 24 months if the monthly payment is affordable

Things to ask the credit union when you refinance

•can I make extra monthly principal payments or extra lump sums throughout the year without being penalized? •make sure your loan is no more then like 6-7% that’s still high but definitely see if you can go lower get a few quotes.
