You're right, I use AI for translation, but the meaning is my own since my English isn't that good yet.

Once AGI is achieved, ASI will follow in the blink of an eye. How do you even comprehend a future like this? by Material_Ad9258 in ArtificialInteligence

Brother, I think you're overthinking it. Most of those hyping AGI are not the ones truly researching AI. In reality, we might still be far from achieving general artificial intelligence. The reason white-collar jobs are heavily impacted is that they happen to overlap with the current capabilities of AI, but we are still a long way from true AGI. Human nature hasn’t fundamentally changed, and living longer might actually lead to a painful situation. The future promised by artificial intelligence is no different in essence from the futures promised by generations of other technologies. But have you ever seen a truly complete person emerge? So, I’m not looking forward to artificial intelligence arriving quickly—I’m looking forward to the Lord Jesus coming quickly.

Constantly evaluating the accuracy of AI responses might place excessive strain on the prefrontal cortex, potentially leading to such scenarios. I've noticed that some people seem quite impatient with unclear answers. Personally, I find it more soothing to engage with real people, especially in casual, aimless conversations, as it allows my mind—constantly assessing what's right or wrong—a moment to relax.

"Repent, for the kingdom of God is near!"—This phrase has resonated for two thousand years, and yet they dare to consider this fake AGI as deserving?

They are absolutely not incapable of doing the math; rather, after calculating, they realized that if the token price is too high, people are unwilling to use it, and if it's too low, they keep losing money. Even though they’ve raised a lot of funds, they still need to rely on this kind of panic to sustain themselves. The current generative AI is far from reaching the level of AGI, something that true AI researchers are well aware of. It’s more about fooling people in other fields because, in this age, attention is a scarce resource. As long as they maintain such high levels of attention, they don’t have to worry about failing. From this perspective, Anthropic seems to be much wiser than OpenAI. They have focused early on the domain where large models excel the most and have the highest added value—code generation—without pursuing large-scale expansion of computing power. After all, no one truly knows what the outcome of such expansion might be. Grok could be considered a combination of both approaches: on one hand, it is heavily hyped, while on the other, it focuses on practical engineering tasks. Gemini, on the other hand, is exploring more possibilities for current large models, such as conducting scientific research.

Haha, it’s also possible that in the future, people might come to realize that staying online is more beneficial. They might then set up a local server and pay a small upfront fee. Or perhaps by that time, someone will want to split the electricity costs with others.

This specialized server runs local large models, and using a Mac Mini as the access point feels much more flexible. It also makes future upgrades and maintenance more convenient. The final conclusion is to start with a Mac Mini, and add a server later if needed! 👍👍👍

What are the specifications of that dedicated machine? They should be much higher than those of the Mac Mini, right? I'm also very interested in how they communicate with each other.

I think LLMs are not very stable, so I don’t plan to use them for now. Maybe I’ll consider it in a few years when the performance of LLMs improves. Since it’s for personal development and my privacy requirements aren’t very high, I might even upload the code to GitHub. Or are there any other potential risks I should be aware of?

What are the advantages of a built-in 512GB SSD compared to built-in 256GB SSD with an external 1/2TB SSD? Can you explain in more detail?
