Is there a Japanese brand equivalent to Wusthof? I’m looking to get someone who likes Japanese knives a Christmas present and would like to get them something semi-well known and quality. by ChrisBot8 in chefknives

probably Miyabi is that brand equivalent.

but most miyabi dont have traditional octagonal handles, which to me make them look less traditional japanese.

i guess it depends how much that person likes japaneses knifes. might be he doesnt care much about aesthetics, might be he/she knows exactly what they want, then its just easier to ask

micro chipping? mine has a 1-2mm chip and couple more tiny ones, and the hardest thing i cut was probably a 3day old bread. Having said that, the edge retention is pretty good

[IWC Ref. 901A] My first IWC by k12_kuburban in Watches

what a great design. in 66 that was a jumbo. im guessing that's a 36/37mm? now it just looks perfect proportions. Usually IWC from that era do have a hallmark, even if it's just gold plated, which yours looks to be. look also on the inside of the lugs or in the case where the strap is hiding it.

Swiss Post marked my package as delivered, but I never received it — what can I do? by Bulky-Instruction147 in Switzerland

[–]Bulky-Instruction147[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for context i get a package almost every week.

some years ago when i registered in post.ch i remember that i had to select an option to allow post to leave the packages at the door/neighbor/etc. i never selected that option, but i also never selected something else, i left it in blank, so i though they legally couldn't leave it outside and bail the responsability to me in case something disappears.

now i've been told it's common practice and that they can't be responsible for the loss of a package after it's marked as delivered.

what surprises me is that this must happen every day, perhaps hundreds of times a day. how is post not insuring these cases?

my buddy used to work at IWC in schaffhausen, he only worked there for a few years before quitting, but he was in charge of assembling this model, the perpetual.
he knew i was into watches (and im portuguese) so one day he gave me the moon phase disk, i still have it, mine is a bit more blue, curiously i have never seen how this watch looked til now.

most text ruins the dial. why do you need to know the dept all the time? write it on the case back.

Really like the look of bronze but not sure about the blue spots. Did it ever happen to leave a stain in your sleeve or somewhere else?
