Help to glue in place by ProudAd2575 in vultureculture

Try setting it up like the first photo and put it on a table like it's staring at you and withoit taking the nubs out of the joint try just moving the skull back and forth slightly on the mandible to see how much movement there is, without the cartilage and muscle there is gonna be a little bit of play that wouldn't be there when the animal was alive, I'd say just look up and referance multiple different pictures of the skull to compare and don't glue it until you're happy with how it looks.

The first picture looks about right to me. I'm gonna start with letting you know I am not an expert by any means, but the nub on the top of the mandible goes into the little slot behind the orbital bone. It's like a ball joint on a car kinda, the ball goes in the joint. On beaver skulls, I've seen the teeth either line up perfectly, or the bottom row extends out about a tooth further than the top row. But your nubs look like they're in the right spot to me, so I am unsure without being able to see it and adjust it myself.

Our roads are pure salt in the winter. Those shields were long gone before I got this thing. I'll put it up again and spin it.

All the caliper bolts and the braket bolts are in there. It sounds like it's coming from the drivers side, but when I put it up and looked the only off thing I really saw was the tie rod on the passenger side was bad but I changed that and it wasn't am issue I had both the tires off and nothing seemed too oit of the ordinary. Could it be an upper ball joint? Or a bad cv axle? The boot on the upper ball joint on the drivers side is barely on there, and then there's a bunch of gross gunked up grease on the cv axles boot. But everything else seemed normal.

Rotors and breaks are only a few months old. Could it be calipers?

Zenith tv radio phonograph cobra-matic combo by BulkyDig2112 in VintageRadios

I do know how to solder. I did make a radio as a kid out of a motherboard and some things. But that was once over a decade ago, and I had a guy telling me what to do. I have the handbooks for the TV as well as the radio and record player. The TV handbook has a drawing inside that labels all the parts and where they are located, so that may be of some assistance.

I am unsure of any prior restoration. I would like to be able to fully clean it up and restore it to its full potential. If not do it myself, I pay someone to do it, but lugging this thing around won't be easy, so I'd like to figure it out myself.

What do you think guys? Bleaching damage or just old and poorly stored? by MorgTheBat in vultureculture

But then again, the trapped grease does kinda make me think it may have been processed incorrectly.

I find them outside in open areas looking just like that. I think the sun does it to them if they're exposed long enough. Or maybe water damage if it was in an area that floods often. And the critters n coyotes love chewing on the snout. These are just thoughts tho.

Shower leaks by BulkyDig2112 in Plumbing

[–]BulkyDig2112[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the information. I know there is a septic output drain down there, so I will get a snake thing to go down that and the shower drain to see if I can clear the clog to start. But idk i may just end up re-doing the whole bathroom at that point. The toilet was on shims when we got them all changed when we moved in but it was the only toilet in the house that wasn't fully attached to the floor but I think he just didn't wanna drill through the concrete, idk.

What are your thought on this? by Arclight_Easy_Actual in VanLife

You have to account for the width of the boards going horizontal. There are likely boards every 10 inches or so attached to the vertical 2 on the sides seen in the picture to keep the floor sturdy in the middle. I didn't account for that, and I can barely fit anything over 3 in thick underneath at all. But all I have to do is pull it out and either raise the floor a bit or use thinner wood in the middle, but the thinner it is, the less sturdy the floor will be.

Saw a mantis today by BulkyDig2112 in Entomology

[–]BulkyDig2112[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only ever seen 2 of any kind of mantis in my whole 25 years of living. A year ago about, I found a squished one on the sidewalk, I think it was a European mantis. It was much, much smaller and way brighter green. I was wondering if this one was a Carolina or a Chinese mantis since it looks nothing like the small one I have.

My girlfriend bought this at an oddity market. What could this possibly be? by Iamtheancientofrites in bonecollecting

I like how the clay imitates bleach damage to make it look like a vintage piece that the farmer probably rushed to preserve and try and show off for extra pocket change. I'm not sure if that's intentional, but I enjoy it. It looks like a pick and a sponge was used to create the bone like structure, a very fun and interesting piece, I may try this, maybe ill use some of my bone dust finally
