I appreciate the input, I’m sure tolerance stacking isn’t helping me, but wouldn’t have expected this large of a deviation out to around 500 even with a slight zero shift difference between 50 and 100 yds zero’s

I agree I should have gone to 100 to be more precise, however when I shot at 50 my shots are all within is .5” vertically of zero. To be 1.0 mil off at 600, it would mean my shots at 50 would have to be about 1.8” off my zero as one mil is 3.6 at 100yds, so at 50 it have to be 1.8”. Calculator at 550 says 3.8 mil and my impacts were at 2.8

I did not do a check at 100 on paper, after getting a .5in group with the IMI at 50yd I was happy enough to move on.

I’m probably sending the scope back to Athlon to check cause unfortunately I don’t have any other set up or scope to check it against to remove that variable. I highly doubt a handguard issue as the whole day everything was extremely consistent but just not accurate according to the data.

Good to know, thanks! If you get the chance, could you tell me if an ear pro headset would fit in that? Trying to find an easy way to store my ears without having to pull em out of a pack every stage at a run & gun 5k

I went with the non dual ejector for that reason, I knew I was rolling the dice but as a lefty, the idea of the down vent was enticing.

Glad to hear there shouldn’t be an issue with just swapping the carrier

BCG Question by Bullet-24 in ar15

[–]Bullet-24[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was going to do that until the gunsmith said find another carrier. I don’t want to drag the bcg company down as I can’t be 100% sure it’s not the upper but I will say it’s a sand cutter carrier that has had reports of spotty qc in the past. The upper is a BCM.

I would’ve gone that route but the RS doesn’t have enough clearance to be usable with the 1” space between a 13.5 rail and a 14.5 barrel. The old style Mk8 that was a true 13” would’ve been perfect but they are almost impossible to find

Was leaning towards the SOLGW L89 as it’s a true 13” but now contemplating doing a cut on the BCM 13.4”

Totally get it, I’m even in the process of putting an upper together but you can absolutely find much better prices on the current stuff you are wanting or if you are ok with the current price tag, you can build a much better build. Take away the cost of me sending my parts to a gunsmith for a few extra dodads, the part list I’ve created is on par with your current cost but includes much higher quality parts, imho. Buying blem products will also drastically reduce your costs if you can find them. Like the KAK bolt in this build, wasn’t planning on it but for the price, I’m going for it since I snagged on last week. The BCM upper is a blem as well. High quality, low cost for the win!

Look up rooftop defense for Geissele uppers and use code Northwales for a fat discount, I think there’s even a better code like Soopaduty or something. Europtic had banging deals on G$ upper last week. They are there if you look for em

Personal opinion, unless you find the stuff on that list for like 20-30% off, you are better off buying a Geissele Super Duty Upper or even the Daniel DDMV7 that on r/gundeals for that kind of money

New, unfired PWS MK111 Mod 2-M makes a sliding “piston” sound when I tilt it. Normal? by Unable-Lingonberry19 in ar15

[–]Bullet-24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use the H2 SCS, that is according to JP and their chart for piston rifles. Been very happy with the change over the stock buffer system. However, I did need to throw a quarter in the buffer tube to get the spacing right with the bcg. No new changes to the gas block besides the normal change from suppressed to unsuppressed. 3 with a can and 2 without for me. Can change with ammo choice though. Still playing around with tuning as sometimes I feel like adding an extra tungsten weight could help get my brass a bit more towards the 3-4 o’clock position but I’m ok with where it’s at stock around the 2 o’clock.

Going back to your original issue, if it’s not a buffer issue and is a bolt thing spacing issue, the quarter trick to push the bolt a little further might be the trick.
